Fired Celeste up today for the first time. <whew>
She is a completely new design, for me anyway. Her debut event is planned for the AMA/BUB event starting Labor Day at Bonneville. A bone stock 883 motor, until Dan at NRHS breathed on a set of heads for her. The swingarm was saved from Natasha after her 2004 retirement from the Salt.
The bodywork is being redone for better ground effect. More on that later.
Friday the 13th my a$$! There's a bit more thunder in Kansas today and it's not just from the sky!

Narley 14th April 2007, 08:27 holy handlebars batman......i can see the grin on your face
isiahstites 17th April 2007, 05:57 Very unique frame design!:clap What class are you going to run in?
Scott
Dakin Engineering 17th April 2007, 15:00 Scott,
That'd be "A" (altered or special construction). Add body work and it's "APS" (partial streamline). "/PBG" (pushrod blown gas) or "/PBF" (fuel).
Motor class is 1000cc (883) or 1350cc (1200).
If the chassis design tests out, I might put the 1450 motor in (1650cc classs).
I LOVE Sportsters. Sorta Swiss Army knife of Harleys....

Very interesting! I am going to run APS-PG 1350 this year. I look forward to watching your progess through your build. I am building one as well so I will race ya to see who finishes first, whatya say?? :banadanc :banana
Dakin Engineering 18th April 2007, 14:36 I'd say you best get a move on. I did my first rolling checkout yesterday.
Body work was integral to the overall design, so it's 90% done.
What changes are you planning to make it Altered?

Sam,
How about some pics?? I am basically doing a ground up chassis, NRHS is going to do the heads and supply the parts for me to build the motor and I will have a set of Airtek fairings.

Sleeper 19th April 2007, 01:30 Are my eyes deceiving me, or is there a big ass turbo on that bike?:)
milmat1 19th April 2007, 01:39 Thats Cool!!
Tell me about the tryke behind it, That looks cool as hell..
Good Luck Dude keep us up to date !!
Dakin Engineering 19th April 2007, 02:04 Yup, both are turbo'd. The trike was last winter's project; just a Ford 9" cut down to center the wheels and line up the sprockets.
What pics would you like to see?
Sam
Sleeper 19th April 2007, 02:16 Both
That looks like some serious fun.
A little tech data would be cool, if you don't mind sharing it.
Dakin Engineering 9th July 2007, 01:42 Body work progresses!
Had to chop the side panels and fit the belly pan. Ground clearance; 6" dropped to 1.75".
Many hours of CAD and sparks got me to this:

Dakin Engineering 14th July 2007, 20:09 About this time last year I knew I didn't have the bux to run at Bonny. <sigh>
But I got a year, What if?......
http://xlforum.net/photopost/data/500/medium/the_sketch.jpg
Move the turbo to in front of the motor, replace the backbone, new gas tank (and location).

A 1991 I picked up in a swap for a Dyna. Two Sportsters for one Dyna. Best deal since, well,...
Building from the inside out, first thing I need is a new Y-pipe
http://xlforum.net/photopost/data/500/medium/side12.jpg
Dam, that sucker needs 8" added to the lower frame rails. Good thing the backbone is history anyway.

Nice work! I love watching people build things they are passionate about.

Dakin Engineering 16th July 2007, 03:25 Both sets of forks came from Natasha #8788
http://xlforum.net/photopost/data/500/medium/swingarm1.jpg
The swingarm is a straight bolt on.
The old fender had to go. New sub-frame.

And a home for the new feul tank!
Finally, the rear skinned.
