Pssssssst- Hey Man, you want cheap apes? I think I can help you, back in the 60's I actually saw Honda guys putting bicycle apes on their Super Hawks, no Man, I'm serious. $3.95 down at the Schwinn dealer. For real!

On Discount Cycle Parts website you have to go to a specific catalog to look for part numbers. Do you know which brand your bars are, or which catalog I could find the number in? (I want the same, but narrow)

Thanks.

No, 7/8" as were/are Honda's and metrics in general.

That's what I thought.

That's what I thought.

Well...technically the "old" Schwinn bars were raised in the middle (1") where the goose-neck clamps down. The area where standard motorcycle risers would clamp down is in fact 7/8".

I figured I'd clear that up before I get roasted by a Schwinn expert :p

If you're lookin' for cheap keep in mind if you're going to apes you're gonna have to shell out for new clutch/throttle/idle/brake cables too. I'm sure you knew that, but it's been a rude awakening for some :).

Here's the link on DCP for the narrow glide apes...http://www.discountcycleparts.com/xcart/customer/search.php?in_category=&part_number=31020 The only thing is that Kromewerks only offers the pre-drilled for int. wiring on the wide glide apes like I have.
The wide glides actually have the same base width as the stock sportster bar and are 10" tall. The narro glides bend starts just beyond the bar clamp and are 12" tall. Here's a shot of the khromewerks wideglides on my bike...http://xlforum.net/photopost/data/500/medium/newapesrearshotsm.jpg

Oh yeah... and by time I got new cables, risers (the tall pb riser I dont like), relocated the speedo and such I have about $350 into the switch but well worth it in my opinion.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that... but not a$$holes the make comments on a post asking for info. on something they don't even like.
