View Full Version : Bar end weights chris ward 20th April 2007, 12:48 Sorry if this in a thread ,but couldn't find it. I just got my 2003 xl883r. Love it but the vibes from the handlebar drives me numb. I am trying a set of maniac sal endweights anybody got any idears?? Horse 20th April 2007, 13:07 I have a roll of nickles in each side of my bars. It helps tremendously. Gone 20th April 2007, 13:22 Adding weight to the end off your bars will change the harmonics and in most cases reduce the vibes . Like Horse said , people have used a roll of pennies or nickles in the end of their bars for years . It's certainly cheaper than what you would pay for some trick barend weights . You could consider a set of barend mirrors to add the weight . acenorm 20th April 2007, 13:23 I have a roll of pennies on each side with ISO grips and have no problems. Best Regards, Norm jmans883 20th April 2007, 13:28 i love the shakes DinoSport 20th April 2007, 13:30 Comfortably numb. Gone 20th April 2007, 15:40 same set up as acenorm, Pennies & ISO's works good for me. total cost 142 pennies, 4 penny rolls, some black tape, 20 minutes to remove grips, install 71 pennies per side, reinstall grips... used old copper pennies from the amf era........ Swankster 20th April 2007, 16:09 My bar end mirrors helped immensly. Swankster sycle1 20th April 2007, 21:37 I used some solid brass bar and used silastic to glue it in with Iso grips. Made a big difference. Massdog05 24th April 2007, 19:42 Can also use silicone to keep the pennies in there and give some absorbing cushion. Also the Polyurethane bushings took out that last little bit of numbing vibe out of the bars. 83XLX 24th April 2007, 20:25 Bar Snake. Trout 24th April 2007, 20:32 I made some bar-end plugs from a piece of 7/8" stainless round stock. I cut to length so that the plug just barely contacted the wiring dimple. The fit was TIGHT so I had to grind a small groove in the stock to match the seam on the inside of the bars. Heat the bars slightly, freeze the plugs, lube with WD40 and tap them in to place. Heavy and solid. It takes a little effort, but the result was very successful. ReddTigger 25th April 2007, 02:15 I just love that tingling feeling that you get when you ride. I couldn't do anything to rid myself of that... :) Bruce 26th April 2007, 00:33 I'd like to try the bar weights, the vibration sure bothers my carpaltunnel in my wrists. Whats the easist way to get the grips off? |
