View Full Version : Is anybody here going to any "Harley Races" this year?

(Please do not move this post to the "abandoned" racing section, it is not a question about racing, but instead if anybody plans on attending some.)

By "harley Race" I mean motorcycle sports that Harleys are still competitive in such as Hillclimbing, Flat track racing, Drag Racing, or Land Speed Racing. I'm going to try and make it to all the event in my neck of the woods that I can this year, which are:

June 3 - Whiterose PA hillclimb
July 7 - Mineral Wells WV flat track race
July 13-14 - Saluda VA Flat track Race
July 28 - Hagerstown MD flat track race
July 29 - Whiterose PA Hillclimb
Sept 30 - Whiterose PA Hillclimb

As you can tell I like Hillclimbs and flat track races the best (you really have to see them in person). These races attract alot of Harley riders and are fun weekend road trips. I suggest attending some this summer. Search the web to find some others in your own area. My question is if anybody plans on attending some "Harley Races" ?

Maybe if you post what you plan on attending, others that are interested in those same events can PM you coordinate riding together.

i have never been into racing much. went to a couple dirt track car races when i was a kid, but haven't been in a long ass time.

looks like they used to have something really special here for flat track racing (the Syracuse Mile), but I don't see anything happening this year.

that's always my luck...day late and a hundred dollars short. :doh

I'd like to go to a Hillclimb - but I can't find Whiterose? Do you know where that is? Last year they were going to do Flat-track in Jersey, but they cancelled. I might do Hagerstown this year. I'll keep an eye on this thread - thanks.

If any of you guys are cloes at all to Springfield,Illinois. You need to come to either the Memorial Day or Labor Day Mile races. There is nothing like Grand National Dirt Track on a mile.

There is a flat track race at Path Valley Speedway in Spring Run PA tomorrow Saturday May 11. The gates open at 3pm and the race will probably start at 5pm. It is BYOB. Anybody else here up for going? On sunday there is a TT race near lancaster, but I don't believe any harleys participate in the TT races so I do not plan on attending.

If you can't make the races. Live I Sports.com has the entire AMA Grand National Series for both twins and singles. Both the Springfield Mile and Springfield TT races were free this weekend. Courtesy of Harley-Davidson. Once they do charge it is $5.95 per race. Well worth it.

The Hillclimb at White Rose MC near York PA. is this upcoming Sunday June 3rd. This is a type of racing you all should see. Every once in awhile a Harley beats one of the big snowmobile powered bikes. The Harleys always give the best showings though. They're loud and American sounding to boot.

I wonder how practical or possible it would be to convert one of these XL1200S's to street use? I hope it would be a wild ride, cause it looks like they took the time in the design to solve some of the fuel intake and oil venting issues as well as the mono shock rear suspension setup, very interesting. I bet they handle well too ....cool!

I wish there were more flat track/speedway/hillclimb in the Northwest, but it just can't seem to get traction (sorry!). But we do have the All - Harley Drags in August at Woodburn Dragstrip (between Portland and Salem, OR). I try to make that every year.

I wondered why they pulled that race. I heard it was a good race last year. I'm going to try to make Pomona at least this year. I had to work the weekend of the Sac. Mile.

Maple Grove will run BikeMaynia again this year on July 15, it got rained out last year, twice. Though not all harleys, at least no cars?

I will be running the RMC series in Oley, Pa. Awesome short 500ft. track motorcycles only run by the Reading Motorcycle club, check it out at www.pro109.com

Also will be going to Numidia beginning of September for AHDRA.

Steel City hillclimb in Bethlehem, Pa runs twice a year and they just started dragging bikes up the hill (two at a time) for the first time last year. Very cool to see.

I am really interested in the flat track stuff, may have to check out Hagerstown this year sometime I have never seen one in person.

7/4 - Flat Track - Barbara Fritchie Classic at the Frederick Fairgrounds in Frederick MD

7/6 - Flat Track - Hagerstown Half mile

First White Rose Hillclimb for the year is on 6/2/13

Also look for a potential Winchester VA all star race to pop up on the Steve Nace calender around the same time as the Fritchie half mile and Hagerstown.

Also York PA half mile flat track on 9/28/12. The nearby White Rose MC Hill climb in Jefferson PA is the day after on the 29th. Steve Nace (http://www.stevenaceracing.com/) may be able to setup another nearby race that weekend. Last year it was at Trailway Short Track (Coordinates: 39.781844,-77.062699). All of these September events are part of the York or PA or something bike week.

On a side note I asked Steve Nace to look into setting up a race at the old Bowie MD mile. It would be sick to get a miler in the mid atlantic region.

Also in my area there is a bunch of District 6 racing (the home district to the lovely Shayna Texter :love1)

Here are the locations of various mid-atlantic region flat track and hillclimb events:

Absolutely. I assumed that series was over now that they stopped making the XR1200. Are you allowed to enter your XL1200 to show them all what a rigid sportster can do?

What bugs me is that there is no AHRMA or AMA road racing near where I live.
