I wonder what would happen if everyone in the U.S. just didn't buy gas for a day and didn't go to work (for that same day) to save what gas they have? NOW, that doesn't mean we all go out and fill-up the day before or the next day. Last year, someone tried to have a "No Gas Purchase" Wednesday... folks filled-up on Tuesday. :frownthre Americans (in general) seem to "take it as it comes" so I suspect it'll be tough to change, (me included, unless you hurt my kid, mess with my sportster or house [all in that order]) I just go with the flow. Regards, seagullplayer 13th April 2005, 18:26 I just wonder how many bikes will be sold by high gas prices this summer? I know I will be seeing more time in the saddle myself because of it. :clap PEISprotster 14th April 2005, 03:05 Up here we have gas at about $1.00/liter, over $4.00/ gal in Canadian $ you do the math on the exchange rate.... I'm riding as much as I can BonRu 14th April 2005, 04:04 I've started riding my bike whenever I can to run errands. It sure makes the chore more fun, and saves the gas too. Me and a couple of girl friends (and their significant others) who all work downtown with me are going to start riding our bikes to work on Fridays. It's difficult to do every day because we work in law firms and have to dress nicer than Harley gear, so we're going to take work clothes in on Thursday for Friday, and then ride our bikes in and change. It's only one day, but it's 5 vehicles, so that will be saving a lot of gas. Plus, it will be fun! :tour tmcelrea 14th April 2005, 22:38 I've been riding the Sporty to work every day since I got the bike out of winter storage. :tour Saving me a fortune in gas. I normally drive a Nissan Xtera. SmokeyXL 14th April 2005, 22:54 I ride mine whenever the weather lets me. I only work 2 or 3 miles from where i live. The bike bearly get warm, but when people ask who's going to drive to lunch I have a great excuse. BonRu, my sis is a laywer downtown. Sometimes i ride out there and meet her at Treebeards for lunch. yum! mikeabe 14th April 2005, 23:09 I've ridden mine to work every day, but one, since last may, when I got her. But I live in Texas. Still, there were a few 21 degree days, and a few frog stranglers. earthoverdrive 15th April 2005, 01:08 I ride to work everyday unless it's supposed to rain. That might mean that I'm not a real biker, oh well. I still save myself money and have a lot of fun. One of the scooter companies is coming out with a 150cc 4 stroke that supposedly gets 100mpg in the city. That sucker is going to sell like water at a rave. wagoneer12 15th April 2005, 01:15 Here in Wisconsin you can't ride year round. But I rode it until the first week of December everyday I could to work. I didn't care if it was gonna rain in the afternoon, just as long as it was dry on the way in.. :D This year the snow melted and the salt was off the roads a couple of weeks ago. Been riding everyday. Round trip of 52 miles. Fun as heck. seagullplayer 15th April 2005, 19:29 I got some great clearance deals at Walmart this spring. Snowboarder gloves, $1 Fleese neck warmer (muffler?) $1 Been wearing my sons ski pants under my chaps. I paid for all of it the first trip to work on the bike rather than the truck I normally drive. It was 35 deg F when I left the house this morning, those gloves worked great! (round trip 70 miles) BonRu 15th April 2005, 20:13 I ride mine whenever the weather lets me. Chip 18th April 2005, 01:59 Ride to work whenever I can. A little chilly in the AM, but the ride is nice on the way home. BTW, passed a gas station this AM going into work-----price dropped to $2.01 for 87 and $2.13 fro premium. I can remember when $5.00 would fill my car, now $8.00 fills the bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 01Sporty 18th April 2005, 02:32 Ride to work whenever I can. I can remember when $5.00 would fill my car, now $8.00 fills the bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, on both counts. There's a station down the street, they're changing the price at least three times a day, up and down, makes no sense... And they don't have any other street corner competition. I don't know about where you at, but here the big thing has been that when they try to raise their highest price (so far) even higher, they move the prices around and show the price of cigarettes in place of premium. Such a scam. :censor They almost got me a couple of weeks ago, some fella came storming out of the building complaining and that's when I noticed that the smokes where $2.04, but 87 was $2.35.
