View Full Version : Need Buell Pics
Preacher 1st May 2007, 00:21 Need some good close-up pics of the exhaust routing. Also need to know the clearance between the bottom of the frame and the ground on your bike.
Now that I have the bike raised up, I am thinking I may have enough clearance for a Buell exhaust on my bike. I am getting tired of baking my leg on my high-rise exhaust.
streetfighter1 1st May 2007, 22:15 Preach, A stock Buell pipe won't fit the sportster. The frame is gonna get in the way of the pipe if you try to use it without modification.

I figured that... With the stock pipe, splicing in about 3 inches before it wraps around the front should give me enough room to clear the downtube..... or so I am thinking. I should know in a week or so, found a used header setup.

If there are measurements you need or a particular view of the exhaust let me know and I'll get them for you.
Chris
Preacher 1st May 2007, 22:55 A good closeup of the other side and of the front of the cases where the pipes wrap around?
You could measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of your cases for me... interested to see how much ground clearance you have without the muffler.
Thanks a bunch!
cjburr 1st May 2007, 23:08 No problem, they'll be here sometime tonight, got to feed the heathens right now. What year is the exhaust you bought they differ some from year to year ??
Chris
Preacher 1st May 2007, 23:20 I have to be honest and say I don't know. It looks like a late 90's S2 exhaust. The guy who is selling it doesn't remember what year or model for sure, he bought it at a flea market.
BTW: I measured mine... with that cross brace on the under side of the frame, I have a good 8 1/2 inches of clearance... I should have no problems with this :D
cjburr 1st May 2007, 23:34 Downloading now give me a few minutes
cjburr 1st May 2007, 23:36 I'm thinking it'll work too without too much fabbing, the holes for the bracket on the front left are there on your Sportster. The hanger brackets will be the toughest part.
This is going to look very cool if you pull it off :smoke :smoke
