The mods on my bike should be done by then...

I know that myself, Olderthandirt, and Triumph Joe will be making the run, possibly Thornious, although he has been MIA for the past few weeks. We had a great time last year, and it was awesome meeting some fellow XLFers. And maybe we can see Nichole again :) but hopefully we can avoid Miss Lindsey's.

What kind of mods ya gettin?

Mag wheels, drag bars, headlamp bucket, trim ring, and license plate bracket all getting powdercoated gloss black this week... then new tires, shocks, and change out the bars with new mirrors, control levers, and grips too. Hope to have it all done by the middle of June.

July will be cruisin' time! :tour

Interesting. Depending if my company will be here that weekend still, I might have to cruise up. Not too far of a drive for myself. Just have to see how my wife feels about it being we will be just getting back from Carlisle the weekend before.

My friend and I are riding up on Saturday morning. We are going to stay all day and ride in the parade that night. We are not sure yet if we are staying the night or not. My wife is staying home with our twins so there will be no rush for me to get home.

Heh... I don't even know what my avatar was 3 days ago, but it must have been good!

I'd like to request that maybe we set one day as an official day for a XLF ride? Or maybe even a starting location at the same time and place on each day? I've read most people say they hope to ride Friday or Saturday, with a stray Thursday and Sunday thrown in... makes for chaotic planning at best.

If there is a set meeting time, I could do a day trip on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Anyone from down that way know the area well enough to designate a convenient, easy-to-get-to meeting location? pres41 already suggested Battlefield Harley... will that work?

pres41
4th June 2007, 12:44
:tour Cat:

Battlefield Harley is a good place to meet, easy to find and always a good starting point, time to me doesn't matter I'm only 30 mins away.
Fri is a good day for a group ride. less traffic, not as much going on at the sports center as there is on sat.
If the group wants me to act as Road Cap I have a nice 2 hr ride layed out to include some twisties over hill and dale or we can make it longer if so desired.

I leave the decision up to the group, I'm just offering my services since I know the area well

Yes Danny no helmets required in Pa, and I just rode to Shanksville on Sat, see the Rides section in the main forum I posted some Photos.

I nominate Pres for the XLF ride capt. Friday would be a good day for it. So long as we can go back to that restaurant and see Nichole later that evening :)

Danny3nose
5th June 2007, 00:53
Well, how about we meet at Battlefield around noon for a meet and greet, some pics, and then head out for the ride sometime after that?

As far as Triumph Joe, Olderthandirt and myself are concerned, we still don't have any hotel arrangements, so any recommendations are aprreciated. Last year we just kind of showed up and found a room.

Danny:
:tour Shanksville is about 130 miles from Gettysburg west on Rt 30. If you stay on 30 the whole way your in for some nice twisties and hill and dales. I would figure about 3 hrs to ride it.

Also I will accept the nomination for Capt., I have put together about a 2 to 3 hr ride, and Danny most of this years route is new and different from last year.
Noon at Battlefield sounds good to me.

I am staying at the Comfort Inn on Rt 30. I usually stay at the Quality Inn on Steinwehr, but they were booked up. I have stayed at the Americas Best Value Inn, and it isn't too bad. Good location, if you want to tramp the battlefield, and w/in walking distance of everything downtown.

Don't even F'in get me started on that... :censor :censor :censor

Dropped it off Saturday (after being rescheduled a week ago) at my indy for a one day job, he never finished it, was closed Sunday and Monday, and didn't work on any of the bikes in his shop today. I am royally pissed, just a total lack of communication on his part.

I never would have left it this past weekend if I knew it would take several days, because I'm supposed to go out of town Thur.-Sun. this weekend anyways. I hope to have it back tomorrow to post pics and then let it sit in my garage for another 4 days. Yippee.

<Rant Off>

Anyways... I should be up for a ride on Friday or Saturday depending on when it is scheduled. :wonderlan

Last hijack since John asked...
Indy called, bike won't be done today.
Powdercoat company taped off the wrong side of the wheel, so the hub wasn't done. They are sending it back today to be redone, I just told him to keep the bike until Sunday as I will be out of town.

I can do Friday or Saturday. I'm going to be there alone, so my schedule is flexible.

There is a great road that goes through Catoctin Mountain Park just over the border in Maryland. Route 77 I believe. Twisty and climbs up the mountain and back down the other side. I'm not a speed demon, but I do enjoy carving the corners at a brisk pace.

I guess we'll see how this weekend goes, before really planning any other rides, but according to mapquest gettysburg is 3 -31/2 hours away on the turnpike...and route 30 is less then 1/2 mile from my house...somereason my bike doesn't like route 30 though..hmmm... Anyway, I'm going to throw my hat in and say I'm going to try and be there sometime between friday night and Saturday morning.

Go into work on Thursday 7/12 with your left arm in a sling... tell the boss you broke your collar bone and show him copies of Max's xrays... then tell your boss you won't be in Friday because you have an appointment with a bone specialist in all the way out in Gettysburg PA...

The shoulder wouldn't be cured in 3 days, silly...
You'd have to wear the sling for a few weeks at work and act all in pain and stuff.

I want to take him out there one of these weekends.. If you're interested. oh and... I followed that "other road" on the map before, and I know where it leads, I've taken it before, Just didn't realize it.. White Lake, NY. which is SUPER cool...

I Could tell them that My Insides are phugged up again. (I was out of work from 12/22/06-02/07/07 + 03/05-04/02/07) because of it.

Any time you want to head up this way with your Dad, I'll make every attempt to make myself available for a run. I am looking at GOOGLE MAP now and I see that NY 55 runs right up into White Lake... I may have to make a trip there within the next couple weeks, bring my camera, and give a full report. :)

Phone list will be sent on Wed, I'll pm it to everyone, so if you'd like to be on it and haven't sent me your info, pm it to me asap.

Get off the Rt 30 exit and take a left, the dealer is on the right after you cross back over 15. I'll be coming in tomorrow afternoon.

Did anyone else notice how many sporties there were at the event. I did see quite a few but when I ran into xtheunknown(sorry man I suck at remembering names) at the sheets gas station he brought it to my attention how many there were and then I really started looking at the bikes. There were sporties all over the place. And the only one I noticed and it was xdtheunknown's first also of a girl driving a sporty was at the gas station which he pointed out. The rest of the ones I saw were all guys driving.

It was a cool event. I only really went to it for the forum ride. I took the longer way home to get some more riding in. But other than being cut off while going 45mph by a black bear on SR1024 while heading from erie back to scranton to meet up with chuck to ride to gettysburgh with it was a good week of riding and a good event. Thanks to norm and his friend for letting me tag along with them after the ride.

I saw a girl pull into battlfield before we all met up with one. Probably not the same one though. A friend of mine's girlfriend has one which se paid I think it was around $23000. for. She got every accessory and customization that can be done to it just about when she bought it. She has had it for 3 years now and it only has about 200 miles on it if that much. I told her before she bought it to buy something smaller. The bike looks huge but is amazingly extremely light with a very low center of gravity but she gets to overwealmed on it so she never rides it.

they are up to 44CI/738CC now for the 07 models.
http://www.ridleymotorcycles.com/html/Ridley_Models07.htm

They do come with some cool features like some have the digital autometer in the center of the bars. the one my friends girlfriend has the idiot lights and speed/tack in the side view mirrors. The main thing I don't like about them is the side covers of the engine are huge and really stand out to much in my opinion. I've been trying to get my father to buy one of these because he has arthritus in his hands and cannot clutch anymore.
