OK fellas (and gals),
Here's my plan for my 2005 sporty.
180 or 200 tire on a 5.5 x 18 rim using my stock swingarm.
Is it possible? Which one?
Got plans for a new fender and stuff so that's no problem. How about rear caliper, can I still use it? How about other 'gotcha' parts like sprockets, chains, etc....

C'mon Sportster people, help me out, this tax return is burning a hole in my pocket!!!

I know, do a 1250 mod instead, well, I'm happy with the power I currently have so gotta go with the cosmetic stuff.

Thanks.

i don't think a 200 will fit on the stock swingarm with the stock caliper... i already have a hard time fitting the the 170 with the stock caliper...
Elieko had to do a custom bracket for the caliper he used...
but then again, we do love to do things that people say cannot really be done ;)

good luck and keep us updated.

That's a complicated question that I'm not really prepared to answer at this particular time...:smoke :smoke :smoke

wow thats HUGE.. I don't think that you can go that wide with the stock swingarm. I know that companies offer wide tire kits..

I also know that JMC offers a sick looking swingarm. but it's pricey..

Here is a thread that might interest you: http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=25556

Like he did, you could go with a 160 on a 18"x4.25" or 18"x4.5". It looks awesome, and requires no mods. It just depends if you think going any bigger than that is worth all of the extra work and $ involved.

The '04 and up bikes have huge swingarms compared to ours.

Yeah, I was almost floored when I seen someone do a 160 tire install, until I realized that it was a rubber ducky...

I'm at 140, I Think that 150 is about the largest I can go without major mods... although I am considering a chain secondary, which may let me get to 160...

I just put a 110 on the front, LOOKS sick..
