Picked up a Easy pull last week and installed it on friday. Best $25 I've spent on my bike, Helps a whole bunch if ya got Carpal tunnel. Supposed to cut clutch pull about 40% and I would have to agree.

Thanks txsporty, Install takes a 1/2 hour tops. Comes with good instructions. Had the other kind, EZ pull on another bike (came on it) and I'd have to say that one sucked. You can't go wrong for the money.

where did you get the kit?

sportsman

Ok, bike upright, loosen clutch cable, remove derby cover. Remove the nut from the center of clutch by turning the plunger screw counter clockwise, disconnect clutch cable and install the new part and put it back together. It changes the angle the cable pulls. easypullclutch.com.

I got mine for about 25 bucks on Ebay. Took about a half an hour. Hell, the longest part was assembling the new bike lift to get the bike upright. Works like a charm. I may be putting one on my dads bike for him if he doesnt beat me to it. If I wind up doing it ill take some pics and document it a little for the sake of posterity.

I've got one that's been sitting in my shop. Been to afraid to try installing it. Do you have to get a new derby cover gasket?

The Directions are good but Make sure you have your MANUAL!!!! :D

I dont think anyone addressed the "how it works" part yet so just for those that havent seen it yet. Correct me if Im wrong but, it simply extends the piece the clutch cable is connected to giving it a bit of extra mechanical leverage. Gives it just enough, to where it takes the edge of the clutch..While you are in there you can lube up the cable with some WD-40 and that helps free things up even more. Too bad I had gotten used to riding half the time without using the clutch.lol.. When I do use the clutch it sure feels like I have alot better controll over it. Like was suggested I would imagine a piece like this could be fabbed up fairly easy for other models..or even blow your $25 and cut on it till it fits. :smoke

You shouldn't need a new derby cover gasket (O-ring) as long as the old one is intact.

I dont really think it has a brand name. Mine looked like something the dude made out in his shop. This is the same guy I got mine from.

They make them for all years, don't they? I've found some that are only good from 84 through 97, and then some for after that. I've had one on backorder since the day I bought my bike from the manufacturer; still waiting. Heading over to ebay myself. :tour

.......not that any of u guys will care...but I called them to ask if they had a unit for my "Ironhead". He said it should work for me..tho they say 1986-up. He also told me that if it didn't, I could send it back for Full refund..sounds fair enough. I don't really have a problem with mine..but if it would make it shift as smooth as "buddah" then I might reconsider....

I got my kit from Zodiac in the UK, the kit cost £95.00 though. Fitting is easy, you just disconnect the clutch cable and relpace the existing clutch pull unit inside the derby cover and reconnect the cable.

The system just works by using a different ratchet method.

Vast improvement though, I really noticed it on a couple of charity runs that I did.

does this kit still allow the clutch to fully engage and disengage?

rudedog6999

Or for you "Red Green" fans, simply duct tape a hockey stick to your existing clutch lever (if it aint broke...you're not trying hard enough)

I installed the MRC Clutch Assist...nifty little Japanese device replaces the stock ramp assembly. Works great.

I just installed one of these on my '04 1200C yesterday. Took it for a ride today and was very pleased! The install takes all of half an hour (excluding prep time). Definitely worth $30.

Reeky
18th April 2005, 04:23
Cool. It's nearly identical in form and function to the stock ramp. IMHO it's the part HD would/should have produced had they finished engineering it.

Maybe I'm nuts (well, not maybe) Bbut I finally put mine on Sat. night and rode Sunday and can't tell THAT much of a difference. Maybe my hand needs carpal surgery again but I don't think it made much difference. I wonder if I could put the AMP powerclutch on as well? Think that would work or do you have to have some slack in the cable (easypull took all the slack) to install the AMP?

Reeky
18th April 2005, 23:30
I'm not familiar with the "AMP". I've the MRC and I noticed right off that it made the pull much easier. A buddy installed one on his '05 1200C and after riding his I was a believer. The local stealer here sells quite a few of them.

It costs about $100. I don't know edzackry how it works. It looks almost identical to the stock ramp assembly...it has a larger ballbearing than stock. All I can say is it's easy to install with the directions and your trusty service manual and it works as advertised. I haven't had any problems with it.

20th April 2005, 21:10
This is the only link I could find for it and it's dead...I'd call these folks...

Can't find any thing in English (american) -- some Harley dealers sell it -- I got it as an Xmas gift. It works by changing the profile of the ramps in which the balls ride -- as was said it should have been what H-D should have used in the first place. Easy to install -- the only caveat is that the clutch adjustment is not quite how H-D says in the manual. It is easy enough but it is a little fiddly -- you have to do some trial and error to get the engagement point where you want it. When I adjusted strictly as the manual said, the clutch engaged about 1/2" from the handle bar. A little twist of this and a turn of that got the clutch to engage about mid throw.

The reason this is more expensive than the easy clutch is that it replaces the whole throw-out mechanism

Reeky
20th April 2005, 21:24
The MRC instructions say to adjust your clutch cable with NO slack at the lever....the service manual asks for, if I remember correctly, around 1/8"? Whatever...cable slack at the lever with the MRC results in your clutch not completely disengaging. Bottom line...installing and adjusting this little gem is not rocket science. If my buddy and I could do it y'all can do it too. We're by no means seasoned HD wrenchers.

20th April 2005, 21:38
I've seen both of these. The Mrc throw-out mechanism has a longer arm. The easy pull Is the same Idea but it bolts on.

That's the way I understand it Loot! Gives you better leverage. It sure works like a charm on my bike! :clap Before I got it, I couldn't ride for very long because my hands are weak and that clutch killed me. With the Easy Clutch, it's a piece of cake. I love it! Got mine on Ebay for $26. Bike shop STILL has one on order for me; they are backordered at the manufacturer.

sportysrock
10th July 2005, 16:46
Cool, it's steel! I was wary of it being aluminum, getting so much use, and being out of sight at the clutch. I saw one at Performance Machine. (here it is)

Power Clutch
Designed and engineered for easier clutch pull. The PM Power Clutch reduces effort by 30-to 40-percent at the lever. Ideal for smaller hands or high performance clutches. The PM Power Clutch is a direct-replacement for the two-piece stock clutch ramp. It replaces both the inner and outer ramp assemblies and is a straightforward, easy to install unit.
It will fit all Sportsters '93 and up, EVO Big Twins from '86 on up and the new Twin Cam models.
87 - up Big Twin 0066-2020 $169.95
94 - up Sportster 0066-2021 $169.95
86 - 93 Sportster 0066-2022 $169.95

$169.95? Kind of STEEP isn't it?

The pull is difficult even for me when facing heavy traffic. It kind of sucks the fun out of going to a bike rally, but then again I like to ride - not sit in traffic!
