View Full Version : Adding propper Info ...
Is there a way to make certain Info mandatory to enter in profile.
Like the kind of bike Example::: 883L,1200C..etc
I was reading a thread (xena mod) on how to go about doing it . and reading everyones posts who said they did the mod.But they Don't list there bike model so for me to decide if the mod will work on my 883L. I'm not about to go pm 5+ people and ask what model xl they have. in the thread xena states it may not work with certain bikes. Any who I think if certain info had to be added would be so much easier in certain areas.
Model of bike. If they don't own a bike yet they can right N/A or something. State you live in (not saying ya have to list town or street addy :p) but certain info would be helpful when people ask for help on certain things.. Maybe if there was a drop down menu to pick from people would fill more info in. OK done complaining. back to your regularly scheduled xlf'ing
fafcpa 6th May 2007, 02:25 This is a great suggestion and I hope the mods or Bert act on it.
In addition to the bike, a location should be mandatory. If the US, at least a state: Canada, a province; others locations, at least a country.

Another Mount Suggestion, Will work on any sportster with two pullback risers.
Will not work on custom models.
I respectfully disagree. Privacy is a personal issue and while I strongly suggest that more info makes it easier to know more about the poster, I think you need to respect that others want their privacy. There are 15,000 users on this forum, and it is easy to feel like this is a close knit community of friends. In reality, anyone with internet access can join and find out as much as you are willing to give out.
When you ask me something, I will usually respond. When you require me to tell you, I will tell you to... well, lets just say I won't respond.
BTW, I live in Pottstown. I say Eastern PA since not too many folks know where Pottstown is. And I drive a 2005 883 Custom ~ the fastest and coolest bike ever made!!!!
dabronco 6th May 2007, 03:40 I think it should be filled out just out of courtesy. Type and year of bike, where you live, (city, state or at least part of the state) It matters when someone asks "Should I run an oil cooler?"
I agree with privacy. But at least just list state.I have noticed some people ask for Indy info or help on something. But can't help if someone doesn't know the state at least. Anywho . :)

I see your point. But, for me at least, knowing a little about a persons background, location, ride, etc. may determine how much credibility to apply to their post. Of course since they could easily be blowing smoke, even that is not a sure thing.

fafcpa 11th May 2007, 19:33 I can accept not having a "location" to maintain one's privacy. But when someone is asking a specific question about his bike, why should one be expected to try a search out what year and model is the subject of the question?

I live in Las Vegas. Now I suppose I'll have hundreds of stalkers lurking in my back yard. (sheesh!) Now in my opinion, that is a whole lot more useful to someone helping me with tuning and performance issues than simply saying I live in Nevada. I used to live in the west central part of the state, and at 5000 feet. Winterizing, jetting, and no oil cooler needed.
KC_Sporty_Gal 12th May 2007, 15:53 I know where Pottstown is! :banana My parents live in Gordn (near Frackville, Ashland) I used to live in Bloomsburg.

Johnny Wolf 12th May 2007, 16:01 Here is a thread I posted with regards to member locations, it still bugs me to see no location listed. Like I stated in the attached thread it doesn't have to be your exact address just city and state.
