This is wierd.
CraneCams Hi-4 kit comes with one spark plug wire, with a spark plug connector on each end. You cut in into two, each of appropriate length, and attach the coil connectors. A shorter wire for the front, a longer wire for the rear. My timing light runs quite reliably from the rear [longer] wire, and not at all from the front one, regardless if they are switched. Makes no sense to me since they are the same wire.
I have a second Hi-4 for my other XL. Not installed yet so i cut the wire to make two more. Light does not work from either.
I have two cheap wires, one new one and one from an old Ford truck. Light works with neither.
So it works with 1 out of 4 CraneCams wires, and with nothing else.
I tried scraping the insulation from the cheapie wires. Still do not run the light until i get right down to the core wire, then the light works but the engine of course won't run.
Perhaps it is time to phone the tech guy at the timing light company.
