Local dealer moves to another county last week after being in the same kind-of-dumpy location for decades. Built a multi-million $uper $howroom along an interstate highway. Just what HDI wants. Nice dealership, nice people.
Opens for business in the new shop and discovers that they don't yet have their business permits in the new county. Open, but not allowed to sell anything, and my just-delivered new Sportster is just sitting there gathering dust while the wheels of bureaucracy grind out the permits.

I wonder if they could transport your bike to the nearest other dealer since it wouldn't be an actual purchase...just a delivery...I'd call the MoCo and see what options they may have! You shouldn't have to be penalized for something beyond your control...

Yup, I agree. If the dealer if worth a pich o' poo, he'd figure out a way to get you your bike! There's always a way around red tape if someone is willing to put in the effort.

The dealer called me about the whole situation and were very apologetic. I figured they had enough problems at the moment, and didn't need me being a another big pain in the ass, so I told them to chill and call me when things were straightened out. Maybe I'll get some freebies for being cool about it...

See if the dealer can meet you at his old dumpy place to make the transaction...he should have grandfather rights to do business still at the former location...unless it's a short inconvenience, I think I'd have to insist they try to be a little more creative than, "Oh, Gee...we can't do anything til this is resolved"...where's their "yankee ingenuity?" We've got an economy we're trying to jump start here!

How about this - - -
When they finally do sell you the bike, they write you a check for 500 bucks, maybe out of their "customer goodwill" account. You can bet if you came to pick up the bike and said, "Uh oh, I'm a little short on cash", they wouldn't care for that.

Dealer got his license, and I got my first look at my new sporty - orange 1200R. Gonna pick it up next week after they install a black 2 into 1 and some black handlebars from a n 883R, and of course re-jet the thing on a dyno.
