Hi Guys,

Just a little heads-up to let you know about some new products that are in the prototype / testing phase.

The first is my Syde - Kick Solo bag. it is approximately 12" tall x 12" long by 5" thick. These are in the final torture test phase and seem to be passing with flying colors. Questimated availability late 2009 - Spring 2010. They should retail for under a hundred bucks.

Here's a pic:

The second is a set of slants designed for Dynas I have taken a lot I learned from the XL Series bags and incorporated this into the new Dyna bags. I am waiting for what I hope is the final prototype to arrive in a day or so. If all is well they will enter the final testing phase. Questimated availability late 2009
retail about $150

As always the XL Series bags are undergoing continuous improvement. I believe that after three years real world experience we offer the best throw over slants available in their price range. The most obvious change in the works is the addition of a brass disc with our logo.

I am working on the matching Plain Jane tool bag. No pics available at this time. Basically I am adding quick release snaps and making it a little larger.

We have added a new concealed weapon purse to our line up this year. This is a first for me. To be honest with you I never pictured myself designing a purse! I had tons of requests for a CCW purse that could handle a 1911 45. So I designed one. These are selling very well. Look out Gucci, my gals pack heat! They retail for about 69 bucks

Later this season I am offering a saddlebag buy back program. I am interested in determining how my saddlebags and others have performed under real world conditions. Basically it will work like this. Return any used pair of saddlebags and I'll send you a coupon code good for $60 off a pair of new XL Series saddlebags. I'm still working on the details. At this time I believe I'll be able to handle 50 pair of used bags. Many of you have been using bags you purchased from me for years. I am very interested in seeing how they have stood up after several years of use.

As always I'm always glad to answer questions. Post on the forum or email me at:

Nice idea Don. I have a pair of bags for the sporty and the only issue I have is the pop rivet holding the retainer "D" rings on the tire side broke. Put in a bolt and nut now it's working. These bags work great when I was in Colorado and went through rain and sleet.

That's the kind of info I'm looking for. Nothing beats real world feedback.

I hope to get my hands on about 50 pair of bags that have been through hell & back. That will give me some good ideas of where to reinforce, strengthen etc.

I'll post details on the buy - back program as soon as I work out the details.

By the way, If you bought your bags from me send me your address and I'll send a Chicago screw to repair the D-ring. :)

Hey Don...what models will the Syde Kick Solo bag be made to fit?

Hi,

I know they will fit 04 and up Sportys all models. I am reasonably sure that they will fit all EVO's.

When I get my hands on an older EVO and Iron Head I'll check the fit. I believe they will fit those also. I have to make sure that the straps fit the frame.

Ozark, I really like the bags that are shown made for the Dyna. I would buy those. The only thing I don't see on them are quick release straps. I like the quick release straps because well, they're quick to open. Maybe it would ruin the looks of what your shooting for, but it's just a thought.:banadanc

Hi,

They will definitely have quick releases, water resistant inside pocket etc. The bags shown in the photo are a prototype shown on a forum member's bike who is helping with the project. We were experimenting with dimensions etc.

Incidentally, the sharp angle of the Dyna's shocks make the design of the height, yoke etc very interesting to say the least.

Hi folks,

The Dyna throw over saddlebag design is completed. I am nailing down the production details. I hope to have everything finalized soon. I realize that most of the folks who post here are Sporty fans however I'm still going to give anyone who is interested an advance buy opportunity.

These saddlebags incorporate what I have learned from the XL Series Saddlebags to design a great set of bargain priced saddlebags for Harley Dyna's.

The angle of the Dyna shocks presented some interesting design challenges that had to be overcome. I believe we have come up with a strong simple design that is a great fit for Dynas.

I would like to thank John Copeland for his advice, observations and input that helped make these saddlebags a reality.

Here are some pics of the bags on John's bike:

The first run of Solo bags will be brown. I had so many requests for black I added some of those as well. They may be available for the December shipment.

I am seriously concerning a run of brown XL bags. I really liked the looks of the brown leather in the Solo bags.

The supply of the brown leather is limited right now so I'm waiting to see how that shakes out before I get a quote on the brown saddlebags.

Incidentally if anyone is interested in the advance purchase deal on the Solo bags there are still some available. With your forum discount they are less than $64. You won't find the this cheap again! Here's a link: SOLO BAG ADVANCE ORDER (http://donscycleware.com/dcwsysobanew.html)

Ozark, when does the introductory/XL Forum deal end on the solo bags? I just blew my wad on a new sissybar & battery for my Nightster, but I could probably order one in a couple of weeks. I'd really rather have it in black than brown, too.....am I asking for the moon? LOL. By the way, just curious as to where your shop is located.....Southern MO or North AR???

Hi,

The offer ends when the bags arrive in December or until the entire order is spoken for. At present there are several available.

I asked my vendor to include some black Solo bags if possible. I have had several requests. I'll give them a call Monday 11/2/09 hopefully they will have some good news.

I do not have a brick & mortar shop at this time. I sell on line and at rallies. Next year I plan to be at the SEMO rally and several others in Southern Missouri. If / when we can open a shop without raising prices due to overhead I'll probably have a place in Ironton Mo or someplace close by here in the Arcadia valley.

For what it's worth, company is always welcome. If you are in the area you are welcome to stop by. If the weather is good I'm always looking for an excuse to ride and show someone the local sites :tour

I'll keep everyone posted as soon as I know something.

Thanks

I've been thinking about it for next year. I really like Southern Rock / blues. It sounds like a great time. This year's came up on me too fast. If nothing else Fayetteville is a nice ride from here.

I got a phone message from someone putting on a Rally in Fayetteville last Friday. I'm going to listen to it again when I get settled in tonight. Maybe it's from them.

Thanks for the invite!

Several people asked about black Solo bags in addition to the brown ones. I touched base with the guys who make my bags and they made a few in black. I don't have photos of the black bags yet. I'll post some when the bags arrive. ETA: a week or two.

Hi,

Hi Folks,

Just a little update. The first shipment of Syde-Kick bags have arrived. I did a random sample and inspection today and they look good. We have started shipping the advance orders today. I am working late to make sure that all advance orders ship in the AM. You have either already received an email with tracking info or will receive one tonight.

I was able to get a few bags in black in addition to the brown. They have gone on sale to the general public so I don't expect them to last.

Here's a LINK (http://donscycleware.com/newsysobagco.html)
