Hi all,

I've got an 2003 883c with the single speedometer (no tach), and noticed on colder days the glass foggs up. A friend of mine warned me not to dismantle the speedo or I'd be sorry, but I'm concerned that any moisture might build up and corrode the electonics in time. How hard is it to get the glass face off to clean out the moisture that's built up in there? Any suggestions on keeping from happening again after I "air it out"? Thankx...

I have the same problem on my 2004 1200R. From what I've read previously you can't take the speedo apart, even if you wanted to. But if someone comes up with something I'd be interested.

I also have this problem (as well as the headlight slightly), but I put it down to our cold climate.

Yubman, you might want to try taking the back plate off the speedo assembly. The actual speedo is one whole piece inside. Disconnect the only plug there and that opens the back of the assembly slightly. Take a regular hair drier and blow hot dry air into the assembly and then reassemble. Worth a try.

Sportymark - you may be right. I think the first time I noticed it was on a cold ride, and it gets worse as the temp falls.

Got the same problem with the tach and speedo on my '05 1200R. Thought about silica gel (dessicant) if I could get it in the housing.

Once you have cleared the fogging you could try some silicone sealer around any small holes or sealing rings, but not on the face of the clock.
