I am being reassigned to Cannan AFB in New Mexico. I will be arriving there in late July or early August. I would like to cantact someone to find out more information about hre area, rideing housing etc. I can get information from the base but I am looking for information from other sources as well. There is a lot of information available on the net trying tsay how great it is and get bpeople to move there and set up business but I want to talk to the average guy there to try and find out more about the good, the bad adn teh ugly.

I'm 2 hours from Clovis and that's where I bought my bike. I don't get down that way very often, but from what I've seen the few times I've been there is that it's pretty cool. Mountain riding is just a couple of hours away. Other than that, it's pretty flat and boring. If I think of some more info, I'll let you know.

the good, the bad and the ugly.
The good?
Hardly ever snows.
The bad?
Where do I start: hot as hell all summer, shit town, boring local riding, shit town, nothing around for miles and miles, shit town, you get the idea.
The ugly?
Dont hook up with ANY of the local women, trust me. Seriously.
I was stationed there for 8 of the worst months of my life in 2000 and 2001. Worked in the 27th civil engineering sqadron as an HVAC/R Tech.

Thanks for the reply guys,
I am going to the 27 CES Readiness flight. I was in Albuquerque at Kirtland form 96-99. I really didn't want to go back to New Mexico at all. Especially Cannon. The riding I'm sure isn't going to be nearly as interesting and scenic as it is here in Germany. i am originally from Nebraska so I know what it is like to have mile of highway with nothing but flat open areas along it. I may have to get a Buell Ulyssis and run the hell out of it. My kids don't really want to go back to New Mexico either. One wants to go overseas somewhere else and the other wants to go to Missouri. my wife doesn't really care much. She would prefer somewhere else but she knows we really don't have a choice.

I will be there atleast 3 years probably 4 or 5. I am thinking of buying a house but i don't know if i will be able to sell it quick when it is time to leave.

That's funny and kind of scary. Funny it was jsut a burrito for a class project but scary that it has come to the point that schools need to be worried and prepared for something like a kid with a pipe bomb, gun, or what ever.
