hi, just paid the taxes got the screamin eagle kit for a o5 1200 xlc but noticed that from the returned stock parts were in a 03 screamin eagle aircleaner box, having looked up the part in the catologue etc and came with the screamin eagle plate for the aircleaner cover which fits up to 03s etc is this normal or ok, thanks for any help.

Are you sure it was not just a spare box as it is usually a different kit for the 04/05 models (29042-04A), the 03's use 29041-88B or 29066-03.

I just received mine today from Chicago Harley the bottom of the box is copywrited 2003 but the part number on the box is 29042-04A the old number was 29042-04.

sorry if this is an ignorant question, but what does "paying the taxes" mean exactly, doesnt seem like a fiscal thing...or maybe it is fiscal and I dont see the connection =)

Harley's come plugged up from the factory. Air cleaner, exhaust and jetting are all stifled due to EPA regs. Paying the taxes refers to buying pipes, air cleaner kit and jetting your carb. Basically you have to pay taxes to live and you have to buy this stuff to make your scoot run good, hence the "paying taxes" term.

just removed the aircleaner to check part numbers and compare to 04 kit in screamin eagle catalogue and it is an 04 kit but the dealer had put stock parts in an 03 box, thanks for your replys.

is the 29042-04a the a/c that everyone seems to have a problem with?
