i have manual, but i dont understand when it says to turn the clutch adjesting screw counterclockwise until it stop. does it mean fully stops or until there is resistance?
i tried both and still have the lunge when starting in first and lever pulled. I just hope there is not more wrong inside.

Get the service manual, shortly after messing with a buddies..it destroyed itself..coincidence..likely..but why put added stress on parts form misadjustment if you don't have the exact method in front of you to do it properly.

G'day
You're not the only one to have a problem with that screw. It's a feel thing and is difficult to guage...I'd hazard a guess that a lot of dealership guys havn't got it right either...so don't beat yaself up over it.
screw it in hard then back it off...do this a few times as it settles the oil out of the way I think.
then ya wanna screw it in till it's firm with just ya pinky finger and ya thumb on the screwdriver, that's a bit past just touchin.
Then back it off about 1/4 - 1/2 turn
If ya think ya feel is real light then go towards the 1/4 turn ...if ya think it/s heavy then go towards the 1/2
After you've re assembled the clutch and set the cable free play to about 1/16 - 1/8 between the cable outer and the lever mount....
Go ride it...if it still drags..you may need to give it a touch more primary clearance.
If when ya pul lthe clutch lever in all the way it goes hard just before reaches the bar
then ya may have to take a bit out of the primary adjustment.
If it's right you'll have very little drag and it wont ramp up near full stroke on the lever

I got a new "throwout" for christmas that lowers the clutch effort -- works very well and will help in some of the stop and go in Atlanta. The problem is the clutch release is too close to the bar -- it dosent drag but it engages right away -- my question when you say take some adjustment out of the primary does that mean loosen the adustment nut (more than 1/4 or 1/2 turn) or tighten the adjustment nut. My gut says tighten because that would allow the balls to engage the ramps more quickly. The 05 manual is not real clear on how the "throwout" works or what to expect from the adjustments.
Thanks

Loosen ....the looser the later it takes up........The more it moves before engagement...

so .... I found that by working the clutch lever and having a screw driver in the adjustment screw -- you can just feel the balls get loose at the bottom of the ramp. It took a few minutes to get the feel but I got to the point where I don't feel that I left much of the adjustment "on the table" at least the engagement is a lot more predictable and the clutch has a lot less resistance -- I am a happy camper
Thanks for your suggestions
