G'day gang,

With my 2001 XLH1200 I have not as yet put out the pillion pegs. They seem to be very tight in the up position. Is it a case of brute strength to get them out, or do I need to loosen the nut first? Is there a washer between the peg and the frame so no paint loss? Are they desiged to be put up and down regularly?

Thanks heaps for your help with this. Best regards Dave.

Dave,

I assume your talking about the passenger pegs!! They should move up and down some what freely but not to loose. You might just have to loosen the bolts up just a bit. You don't want them to flop down by themselves!!

They have a little spring washer in there to keep them from flopping around. Loosen it up just enough to allow them to move freely with a bit of pressure. If you look down where the male end of the peg goes into the female part connected to the bike you will see a small washer and that is the one that keeps the pegs firm but not too tight when adjusted correctly. And no, you should not need a pri-bar to get the pegs down.

Pillion refers to the pad for your passenger.
