test rode a XB12s lightning friday in williamsport PA an hour and a half away. We went for about 30 minutes. got back with the biggest smile on my face, that was the first time ive been on any sport style bike and i just loved it. the best part is my wife told me if i want one i could get it next winter and i dont even have to give up my sporty. the bike just had amazing power and was really smooth i couldnt believe that this was a similar motor to mine. I went down for the XB12R but as soon as i sat on it i new this one wasnt for me (to far forward) since ive been riding cruisers for 8 years but the lightning was very comfortable except on the palms but i think that was more the slow pace in town and the first time on it. now i have to dream and look on the internet at her because williamsport is the closest buell dealer in my area. :cry1

I took one out for a demo today also. I was impressed! It was a fun bike to ride. And much more powerful than my 883. Some day....

I haven't ridden an XB yet, just an S1 Lightning a few years back and an S3T with hard bags and small fairing.I'm 6" and 250lbs and just not built to fit on a little sport bike like that.I felt like a gorilla on a minibike :laugh

Hey Y2K, you and I have the same problem.
Like you I too shop at the Big 'n' Tall store(Not that I am that tall at 6'2") but if you get a chance to ride a Buell S-3, this is the sport tour model and fit me quite well.
Just can't swing the buck for it right now.

Hey Y2K, you and I have the same problem.
.
I rode the OL's XL 883 last night and had a blast on it but even that feels small to me and my back was feel'n it this morn. :smoke I've been think'n about a 1200R for myself but I may have to go for another Superglide instead.
I test rode the 1200R and really like it but my back is !!!!!!! up and I may need a longer smoother ride.
I should have kept my '84 Lowglide FXRS.
If I can swing the $ I may wind up with a new Lowrider in a couple of years when the OL's Sporty is payed off.

That's what happened to me. I didn't have to wait till winter though 'cos it was already winter. I traded my sporty in 3 days later.
