Does anyone know where I can find a 2001 X1 front brake caliper. I didn't find one on ebay and I don't want to buy a new one from the shop.

Put an ad in the parts wanted section at BadWeatherBikers.com. I'm sure someone there has a spare.

No prob. I'm over there more than here anyway. I normally have a lot of spare parts but a tube frame caliper isn't one of them. I already sold the one I have cuz I'm converting to XB wheels/brakes.

Ok dude, if you're gonna ride a tube frame Buell, you need to learn what interchanges between models and what doesn't, or you're gonna have a hard time keeping the bike in good running order without paying a ****load. I just checked eBay and there are two calipers on eBay for your X1, but they are listed for other models. The '98-'02 Buells all use the same front Nissin calipers, and the '95-'97 Buells use a PM caliper that will interchange as well. I will post a link here in just a sec.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Phelan. I didn't realize that these models were interchangeable. I have a dumb question...I'm running my brake rotor on the left side of the wheel (Clutch side). Are Buell calipers made to be mounted on one side only?

All stock calipers are on the right side. There were a small amount of factory race option left calipers produced, but they are made of unobtainium. I have a strong hunch that any calipers designed for '84-'99 harleys will work, but I haven't had a chance to verify it yet (hopefully tomorrow I can). To run any of the calipers I listed of course, you'll have to bolt the rotor up to the right (no pun intended) side.

Ok, I'll give it a go and bolt on the right side. I'll post some pics when it's done!

No prob. I look forward to seeing the pics. On a side note, I did find out that the bolt pattern is indeed the same as the '84-'99 Harleys, but that there is a small amount of material (at least on my Thunderheart 6-piston caliper) would need to be removed to allow the caliper to be bolted up. It sure looks pretty on my Dad's FXD though :D.

The PM and Nissin do not interchange unless you modify them. The spacing is a little different. You will see this when you try to bolt them up. The disc will be over to one side.
