Has anyone knocked out the muffler plugs on the stock 2004 2005 mufflers and not removed the baffles? How did it sound? Did the carb require rejetting?

Did the carb require rejetting? nailhead 5th December 2004, 05:22 I drilled the plugs out(leaving the full baffle alone), and wasn't too impressed with the sound. Better than stock but still sounds wimpy. Then I removed the baffle which was louder but still not what I was looking for. I have ordered CS tapered mufflers and will report on them after I get them insatlled. If you just knock out the baffles you can make your carb work better by removing the idle mixture plug and set the screw to 2 to 2 1/2 turns out. Unless you change to a SE filter assembly I don't think you need to rejet the slow jet. sportymark 5th December 2004, 10:27 Be carefull when you start pulling out baffles as the loss of back-pressure can upset the running of the bike without a re-jet. nailhead 9th December 2004, 01:21 gp9739, I finally got around to installing my CS TAPERED slipon mufflers. I had tried everything I could to make the stockers sound better but they can't compare with the CS sound. My bike finally sounds like a HARLEY. By far the best add on I have ever done. gp9739 11th December 2004, 03:15 Nailhead, Thanks. I do like the looks of the tapered mufflers. The HD site doesn't list SE tapered mufflers for the 2004-05 models so I'll probably go with the Cycle Shack tapered. 04newhog 11th December 2004, 03:56 I put Khrome Werks on my 04 1200R a while back. They are slipons that look like drag pipes. They sound great. I didn't do anything to carb until I installed the SE/AC then I rejetted. It ran fine. gp9739 12th December 2004, 03:54 Where did you guys buy your Cycle Shack mufflers? dwardy 12th December 2004, 09:08 ebay...brand new, in the box, 75 bucks. :D |
