My company might be asking me to move to Dallas TX some time next year, so def. curious to know how is Dallas? Nice not so nice? Things to look out for, or just good things about it?

I tried to look up reviews on line but kind of all over the place, I know it is most likely pretty hot and I know GA might not compare but pretty used to humidity.

Any experience/advice on the area would be great!

Thanks.

Beautiful this time of the year. Sunny, highs in the mid 80's low humidity. In the summer, Hot, but not as humid as GA. Winter about the same as GA.

What part of Dallas?

You can ride year-round. Lots of shopping, arts, entertainment in DFW. Fishing/boating 30 minutes north. It's flat though. If you like the hills then stay put.

Wow great to know, I was figuring 100 + temps and more humid than GA which means instead of my current three clicks with the deodorant it would have to be like five clicks haha. And not sure on which part, just that area would be the possible location.

Riding year round would be excellent, though GA is pretty good too since only a few months really are not rider friendly. Well if I end up going truth is I will sell my sport bike and think I can pretty content with the Iron 883 on flat roads.

The summers here can be brutal, we had a mild summer this year, only a handful of day in the 100 plus range.

The upscale side of town is the north side.

Dallas has the best biker bar on the planet. Strokers

There's 5 Harley shops and a lot on good indies. Browns Cycle for one.

The cost of living is not to high.

Texas is the #2 motorcycle state.

I don't live in Dallas, but the company I work for has an office there and I go there on business occasionally. The wife and I have friends in Addison which we visit with and go to comedy clubs, playhouses, and some upscale restaurants. I love the place personally, and if my company wanted me to move there I think I would probably do it.

cost of living in tx. is about the best in the country, this time of year when the fronts roll thru it can be lots of bad t-storms. Igo to the races up there or in that area it is pretty spread out.

Definitely agree about the cost of living. We looked at moving to Atlanta at one time and was shocked at the home prices there. You will get more for your $ in Dallas for sure.

The summers can be brutal at times. Not with humidity, but the heat.

I think that Atlanta and Dallas are somewhat similar. The big difference is the trees. We are on the southern end of the plains, so the trees are a bit spotty compared to Atlanta. The upside is that if you are trying to find a place you can actually see it coming up rather than in Atlanta where you pass it before you see the sign.

Traffic is somewhat similar, but nothing compares to 400 in Atlanta. So, if you have been traveling it, it will be a piece of cake here.

I'm native to Dallas, so feel free to send me a PM and I can point you to some areas based on where you will work. There are several things to do if you are new to the area, and I would be happy to point a few out. Austin is just 3 hours down the road, and a nice place to take a weekend trip.

If you need a real estate agent, I happen to have one that has been a family friend for years and has been here for a long time and knows Dallas like the back of her hand.

Just let me know if there is anything I can do to help if you decide to come this way since moving is stressful enough.

Cool and yeah did check to see how many Harley dealers were around and knew about Strokers so would def. like to check that out one day also will keep Browns Cycle in mind if I do end up going.

I did see some studies were it was much less than Atlanta GA so def. feel good about that.

Yeah in Atlanta it is just plain silly what people will pay just to live in the city, though because of what has been done (shutting down the projects, rebuilding, etc) quite a few places in Atlanta that would be nice to live in but still very expensive housing costs hence why I live outside the perimeter and willing to drive the 15-20 mins into the city. I like to think I can take higher temps without the high humidity.

Very true about 400 or even certain other areas when it comes to traffic cause it is ruff so great to know what to expect traffic wise in Dallas. Also thanks for giving me the option to further contact you about the area cause most likely I def. will and also thanks for the connection on a real estate agent that is very knowing of the area.

Thanks Joe and others for the replies.

It pretty hot in the summer so you may have to upgrade the A/C in your car like the rest of us.

I've been there for work a few times and always liked it. On my list of places to move to if I were to be moving.
