I'm just curious if they make kits to fit dual disks to the stock Buell front ends because I noticed both forks on all the models I've seen have brake mounts. I'm planning on buying a Buell in the future but I prefer the look of dual diskcs.

This would be an interesting experiment. I've not seen it before, but would sure like to know what stopping power ends up feeling like. Probably be able to grab a stoppie with one finger on the lever...:wonderlan

They made a couple of kits direct from Buell back in 1996. It icluded a second PM caliper, new master cylinder, brake rotor and braided lines. It cost around $850 and was not a very popular option due to the price. rumor is only about 17-25 kits were ever made as it is a very special PM caliper for the left side. Now those kits are worth their weight in gold to Buell enthusiasts and I have seen just the caliper go for over $800. BTW, I do have one for my 95 S2. :)

I have a friend that has an S1 with one of the kits hidden away in case he ever wants to use it, but he was a buell engineer.

I almost got one a year ago it sold for 2500 for every thing to put it on. There are sevral kits on the market that will let you do it for around the 1500 range or you can get calipers off a busa and have your own adaptor brakets made to use them. If you go to a few of the popular buell web sites there are parts lists floating around to do it. for the new XBs I dont think there is any thing out there yet. as soon as I get my 15 posts Ill post a link to were I got my parts list from.

There must be alot more out there than that ,Dan.I have a set in the plastic still for my S-2 and have seen more than a couple on bikes and more for sale.
Several aftermarket set-ups out there, also. Brembo makes one set-up, I have an ISR one, seen at least one other. And saw an XB with the lower fork legs(Showa) from a Gixxer that he said went right on to the XB Showa uppers, with the Gix dual discs on it at Laguna last year.
Suprised no one ever did an adapter set-up to put on some 6 pot calipers from a Hayabusa, etc.

I am going to be looking to do this mod on my X1 too, anyone know if the stock reservoir can/is still used for twin disks?
I thought about just modding another stock disk/caliper on the opposite side.

I doubt it. Of course, you could always shim a Harley M/C of larger size to fit on the 7/8" bars. One reason I love my '95 S2 is because it has 1" bars and factory Harley controls :D.

Most guys that make there own brackets for the conversion use the whole brake set up from the donor what ever it is they decide to use makes it a lot easier and there is no question on if its going to work or not.
