TiBaal89 30th April 2005, 06:56 I wear a black HJC - one of the flip up face things becuase i wear glass... well maybe its not so much the glass as my head being HUGE. :smoke
either case, the thing is kinda clumsy but very convienent getting on and off with glasses.
82ndJumper 30th April 2005, 09:01 havent desided on which one to get yet, took a beating on a ride last weekend. so one is in my future.
Grizzly 30th April 2005, 09:30 The black one looks cool, but reminds me a lot of a moto cross helmet. I have a full face I wear when it is real cold, but I feel wierd. I guess I like the wind deafening my ears! Next time I go through a swarm of bugs though I will wish I had it on!
xena 30th April 2005, 10:10 I wear a Shoei ZII in wine red. It looks very similar to the red hjc pic you posted.
gronk62 30th April 2005, 10:42 I wear a black AGV full face 95% of the time.
On really nice calm sunny days I get tempted to wear my open face but I never really feel safe in it anymore since I met a bloke who ground his face off on the road while wearin' an open face helmet.
Very scary stuff :yikes
motorrunning 30th April 2005, 11:07 I wear a fullface HJC AC-11 in Black.
I hit a front end loader head first (duh). Good thing I was wearing an Arai fullface helmet - totaled the bike but no real injuries to me.
I learned to be a bit more patient at construction sites.
stevo 30th April 2005, 11:12 got half a dozen helmets...
From cheapy open face to top of the line HJC
thatbikerguy 30th April 2005, 12:56 I wear tha black HJC sy-max. In inclimate weather.
Shark Doctor 30th April 2005, 12:57 1 full
1 3/4
1 half
Depends on distance and day and mood.
txsporty 30th April 2005, 13:02 I own 3 Half Helmets, But I see a Full Face in my future!!!! :D
rickxx 30th April 2005, 13:44 i bought a ff kbc tk8 last winter....been using it quite a bit lately with the cooler weather....not sure i'll like it much come summer although it's got front and rear vents, but we'll see. i've got a couple of half helmets as well.
wagoneer12 30th April 2005, 14:12 seems like the black one would "catch air" with the visor.
I like the looks of the red one A-LOT!
pquirk 30th April 2005, 14:17 I've got a few different helmets, but my full face one is the HD "system" helmet. It's one of the flip-up face shield deals which is a very cool feature, but holy crap is that thing LOUD. I've never had a helmet that made so much noise, and for $250 you can do a lot better than that one.
jwb47 30th April 2005, 14:22 I have a zuess modular full face . I like it because I can flip up the chin bar and have a smoke when im in slow traffic.
Henry89 11th May 2005, 18:44 I baught this (http://www.carbonfiberhelmets.com/dot.htm) helmet and have warn it twice. I don't know if it's the helmet or what but the wind noise is terrible. This is the first time I've had to were a helmet so I don't know if it's the helmet or what is expected from a half helmet. I'm thinking of a open face helmet of a full face helmet now. How's the wind noise on regular open face helmet? Thanks.
missyd 11th May 2005, 18:59 Good joke mate!!!! :laugh :laugh :laugh
Maybe your ears are sticking out of the helmet like cauliflower leaves .... :shhhh
This would explain the noise .... :frownthre :frownthre
Scarecrow2311 11th May 2005, 19:10 I have a H-D (HJC) 3/4 I wear but am thinking of getting a Fullface for Cold Days / Nights.
as far as Noise....riding a Motorcycle about 35mph with or with out a helmet subjects your ears to HEARING DAMAGE Level noise...period !!! So even the Best ( quietest ) Helmet will be bad for your ears... I Always wear earplugs when going any faster then 35-40. For more info go Here for more info (http://www.webbikeworld.com/Earplugs/earplugs.htm)
Rememeber your ears are like a Comb; each tooth is a frequency you can hear, hearing damage is equel to breaking off the teeth, do it to much & you will be deaf! Rememeber there is NO way in current medical science to repair this damage...so be smart & wear ear plugs while ya ride ( besides it lessen;s the fatigue as well)
auwrestler197 11th May 2005, 19:15 I just got the HJC "Smoke" full face. It's soooo puurrty. :smoker
I hate 'em! rode here for years without one till the whole west coast followed California with helemet laws :madtwo
I wear a little bennie most of the time till I get to a state that's helmet free legal :smoke
dmraco 11th May 2005, 20:17 I have a HD full face. I will ride with the shield up at speeds under 45mph. No problem with it catching air. Shield is mandaty forthe highway. I do not see how other go without!
I wear the full face to 2 reasons:
--Learned to ride on a Suzuki Katanna 600R with a full face on. Fast as hell.
--I was run off the road 3 years ago on my softail. I did a face plant at about 35mph. You should have seen the front of my helmet. That would have been my face if I was not wearing one!!
I will have to say I rode for about 1/2 the other day WITHOUT a helmet an I came up with a 3rd reason. My ears were ringing like crazy from my BUB pipes!
What color is the bike...I like the RED.
planb 11th May 2005, 21:05 I'm like Shark Doctor:
1- black AGV full face
1- Nolan N100 full face (I like it 'cause the bottom lifts up...glasses)
1- HJC 3/4
1-HD 1/2
I use them all! Just not all at once! :D
ace57 12th May 2005, 02:22 I wear a black Shoei ZII, awesome helmet, I love it.
I feel full face is the way to go, I don't give a shit about the "harley look", as a matter of fact, I don't even like going in HD stores unless I need parts. Seems like half the people in there are, I don't know, too into it.
ace57
exit143 12th May 2005, 02:54 I wear the new full face with flip up front from Harley. I held on to my teeth this long and would like to keep it that way.
itsshemp 13th May 2005, 06:50 I wear the H-D Defiance Half helmet. Its nice for around town, and summer days/nights.
I just ordered a full face AFX FX10. I figure it will be good for long travels, and cold weather. I like the wind blowing, but I figure for the long freeway travel, a full face might be the way to go.
Gotta protect the face mom gave me, if one of those crazy drivers decides to change lanes on me! Where I live, there are Sooooo many retired people (no offense!) on the road. Scares me every time!
Jeffytune 13th May 2005, 07:00 Well, most of the time I have my Carbon fiber R1 (Yes, I R1 two!)Full face.
But sometimes i will wear my Harley Half helmet, but only on short runs, like to the store and such.
I like the fullface, but with glasses, it's a pain to take on & off.
mordak 13th May 2005, 12:19 I have a Skid Lid 1/2 helmet and I have one of the novelty lightweight 1/2's that look like a beanie almost. But after riding on the Highway and needing ear plugs because of the wind noise at 75 mph I will be getting a full face soon. Possibly one of these:
auwrestler197 16th May 2005, 17:41 That one with the skulls is baddass! Damn, I wish I had seen that before I got mine.
Malpaso 16th May 2005, 18:08 Half hat, but only when I'm in MA. NH, CT and RI don't have helmet laws.
flskevin 16th May 2005, 20:09 I wear a hd boneyard 1/2 helmet and badlander goggles around town, but for highway i wear a 3/4 helmet with a visor/faceshield. I grew up in central florida and the heat would just crush you in a full face helmet. I tried to wear one up here but, just didn't like it.
As far as the noise it does get loud, I wear ear plugs if I'm going out on the highway.
xl-scratch 24th May 2005, 17:19 HJC CL-Max flipup. It's okay except on really long rides (250+ miles) it starts hurting my ears like they're getting squashed or folded some weird way. It's my first ff, who knows if I'll make it thru the summer without getting another good old 3/4. I'm like a lot of you though, I can't wear a half b/c the wind noise really f :censor ks up my ears and my BALANCE! Not good.
daesdaemar 24th May 2005, 17:33 I wear a FF Icon Alliance. Very confortable -- doesn't bother my ears. Very good airflow keeps me cool, and I ride in southern Florida... Also, its both DOT and SNELL.

I got one of those too -- most comfortable helmet I have ever had and I trust snell waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than DOT
Bikerdude 26th May 2005, 22:44 I wear a FF Icon Alliance. Very confortable -- doesn't bother my ears. Very good airflow keeps me cool, and I ride in southern Florida... Also, its both DOT and SNELL. Where did u get that helmet from..re: ff icon alliance....I wanna see what it looks like.

type in the following "icon alliance"

2500 + hits
daesdaemar 27th May 2005, 00:51 According to the available statistics, 34.6 percent of motorcycle head injuries occur over the lower third of the face. This area is only protected by full-face helmets. I wear a full-face Icon Alliance in very bright red color. Easy to see and very comfortable. Both DOT and SNELL certified.
Sandman883 2nd June 2005, 13:06 I wear a HD half helmet most of the time, but when it rains or during cold weather I have an HJC full face just like the one you have, but in black. I have ridden in some torrential downpours, and that thing keeps my head bone dry!
PADAVE 3rd June 2005, 04:54 " I don't even like going in HD stores unless I need parts."
second that!
PADAVE 3rd June 2005, 04:57 Ok, I see alot of you wear full face deals. Anyone else from the Pittsburgh, PA area on this thread? You don't see alot of full face helmets around here unless they are on a ricer...my fellow PA'ers agree? Curious about other parts of the world.
radar 3rd June 2005, 05:29 I have all three types, use th 3/4 most of the time, sometimes with a shield. 1/2 on very hot days. The full is used in cold weather, and extended highway riding.
