View Full Version : Storz Performance Visit

Tuesday I had the opportunity to visit the Storz Performance shop while traveling through California. I have my ’07 Roadster in the back of my toyhauler and wanted to leave it there for the complete make over, but can’t quite swing the $ right now. The good news is that I can make my changes in steps (1st rear sets, exhaust and intake, 2nd tank and seat, etc).

I actually got to sit on the bike and it feels light. The shifter has a normal shift pattern and feels solid. I was really surprised by how natural the rear sets felt. The bars are wider and feel right.

One of the shop guys, John said that just putting on the exhaust and changing the air cleaner made big improvements on the ’07 and that’s without a reflash.

To me the big (besides the exhaust and rear sets) improvement is the tank and seat. I hate the way the stock peanut tank sits high. The Storz tank sits wear a tank is supposed to. The seat is comfortable but then I didn’t ride the bike.

If I made any errors in my comments it’s probably because I’ve been driving 16 hours a day and I’m feeling a little compromised. If you like the flat track Harleys you gotta take a look at this Storz bike. It’s exceptional.

That bike just fits me right. It's going to take a little time but I am going to piece one together.

BTW I also got a chance to meet Steve Storz. He seemed quite receptive to my comments about building in stages. This is going to be an easy project.

definately want to do the same once i get mine where it needs to be performance wise. and.....

I am going to buy a geezerglide and SE 110 it first though (for wife and I's roadtrips), the sporty then will be evolved into the XR style (for me!!!!).

I want to keep the 2-1 exhaust (wonder if they will work with the rear sets and I want different wheels (composite maybe?). I want to keep The dual fronts discs but dont know if it will fit with the different size tire...and i want to keep the stock gauges and put on a fly screen

Thats a real nice looking bike. I like the way the exhaust mimics the XR-1000, strait up the side. Stortz is way ahead of the power curve compared to the factory. (Oh, I forgot:doh You can't say that about the factory:p )

When I did my bike I would call and ask questions, they were very helpfull. They shipped the stuff right away. Also the stuff I got from them was top notch.

I love the way these look. No better lookin set of pipes on a Sportster.

How do they compare to the Super Traps?

Any advantages to either set?

Best regards,

Beautiful bike. 1st post- woohoo! I've been lurking around here for a couple months thinking about what kind of sportster I'm going to put together, and I've decided that it's going to be something with a lot of flattrack flavor. Man I love that storz-ized roadster, esp. in black. I'd also have to do it in stages, but that actually might be a cool way to go about it- getting used to one stage before moving on to the next. I'm also interested in how the storz bubs compare to the supertraps and/or thunderheaders, as I'd like to keep the controls where they are if possible.

by the way- many props to duggram for those nice, big, in focus photos from all angles.

Damnit, there's a better kit out there, but I can't think of the name offhand... I saw one at my dealer a few months back too...

The Storz is a great looking bike... but single carb? I would imagine they are classified as a "manufacturer", which means they would have to deal with EPA regs.
The taller gas tank on their bike is a nod towards 'real world" driving, which means you actually need to carry enough gas to get somewhere...
