Anyone heard of these things?

I saw them on display at a dealer in PA a couple weeks ago. They look cool, if nothing else.

They also have color matched one (might be important for some people):

Being a skeptic, I wonder how they are better than K&N or foam filters, and then if they are more or less money than the K&N.

Anyone using one now?

they have been around for many years in europe. very similar to k&n and about the same price. i would consider buying one, i like the metal frame as opposed to rubber frame of k&n

Good point on the frame. The other thing I saw was the stainless end cap on the exposed one vs. chrome.

I wonder if these would be better than the K&N ones that were splitting inside the stock airboxes (where is that thread ...)

Oh yeah, they make car ones too :)

Why would you ever buy one of these if you had a K&N already though? And when you buy a high flow, it comes with a K&N or something like it, right? So you'd be throwing away a new air filter to install one of these? Maybe if this were a replacement for the stock filter or something... But who runs a stock airbox?

Maybe they need to get in the OEM hi flow kits from S&S, SE, Mikuni, Ness, etc.

Hold it up to a light and look to see how large the holes are. Compare the visible holes to what you see in K&N. The thickness of the filter media and the total surface area may also be different.
