View Full Version : pics of my 1st complete build
lucky13 10th May 2005, 05:49 Here's a few pics of the bike I built this winter in my garage. It's the 1st bike I built from the ground up. It's an 01' 883, with a paughco frame, 10 over dna springer, and alot of home made stuff. Also an added pic of me w/ a few of my other toys.

Jeffytune 10th May 2005, 06:20 An AKS?
Is that the Hungarian made one?
Those rifles always worried me, i mean then bolt is running at full speed just a millimeter away for your cheek with this just a peice of sheetmetal to save your face.
Personally, I will stay with my good old American made Colt AR-15H-BAR thank you very much.
BTW, nice job on the bike!
planb 10th May 2005, 06:33 Nice job, Lucky13! We may end up seeing you on the Discovery Channel someday if you keep that kind of building going! Any tips you want to share for any of us wanting to give a custom a shot? How's it ride? Thanks for sharing!
leo_frantic 10th May 2005, 12:50 Great job Lucky. It looks awesome!
Moonpie 10th May 2005, 13:40 Nice...I would ride it!
Bill2 10th May 2005, 15:29 Looks extra sharp man! Dig that front end and that trailer style rear fender! Out of all the high dollar fenders out there i like the look of the trailer type any day! :smoke BTW is that the same bike i was asking about the tail light mount before the mods?
Later, Bill2
jrmkel 10th May 2005, 16:09 Nice bike man. Nothing cooler than a black Harley. As for that last pic....remind me not to f:censor with you, ok?
883Hugger 10th May 2005, 16:33 Looks very cool.
lucky13 10th May 2005, 17:08 Thanks a bunch on your replies. Now heres the cool part, The whole thing cost me about 8k to build including cost of the bike. How's that for a budget chop? Jeffytune- actually it's a Romanian WASR-10, same thing as the sar-1 just a different stock. I would have to agree w/ you on the ar-15. My father-in-law has a pre-ban with an h-bar top. Burns right thru 1/2 inch steel plate. Back to the bike, I did my homework on parts, a little off ebay(oil tank-60$, and frame w/ mso 485$). Found a very low cost supplier for the DNA springer-700$. Most of the rest came from jireh cycles(midwest and paughco parts). Did you know if you ask them for a lower price than what is offered that they'll give it to you if they can. I saved about 10-15% on just about everything I bought from them. When you buy 1000$ worth of stuff it really adds up. Oh yeah, I also get to make some of the money back when I sell all the rest of my stock parts. You wouldn't believe what people will pay for them on ebay. Thanks again on all of your nice comments.....Brian
bds740 11th May 2005, 20:13 What is the stretch and rake on that frame?
lucky13 11th May 2005, 20:27 What is the stretch and rake on that frame?
2 1/4 up, 40 rake, 10 over front end
mikeLI_77 11th May 2005, 21:50 very nice looking bike. i like those pipes and the forcewinder. and for the last picture which caliper keltec is that? the .40 or the 9mm. My friend has the .40 caliper and it is a fun gun to shoot. You know the first day he bought it we were in the range trying it out and 3 black guys walk in to us with the same gun just the 9mm version. after they asked how he liked the gun their second question to him was did he think they could chop the gun down basically in half and use it like that. they wanted to take the cut the gun in half at the hinge, good thing the gun would not work that way, i guess they could have cut the barrel slightly shorter but why the guns small enough as it is. made it pretty obvious to me what they were plannign on using it for.
slolane 11th May 2005, 23:14 Very nice, looks great!
jiffylube 11th May 2005, 23:29 very nice job, I love paughco frames. how much is insurance?
mordak 12th May 2005, 00:35 Thats one sweet custom. I really love the rake and the flat black paint job. Is it loud enough for ya? :D :tour
lucky13 12th May 2005, 06:07 The kel-tec is a 9. It's a fun little toy, just went to the range this weekend w/ a few of the officers in town. It's got a scope affixed to it now so it's makes it a pain to try and fold(down want to trial and dial it in again). Cutting the barrels is illegal in EVERY state, not a wise idea. Thanks for your kind response(s). Insurance isn't to bad w/ foremost insurance co. they are one of the cheapest I found for american v-twins. Actually the pipes were just swapped this weekend for a set of straight drags. The "bone shakers" were a costly mistake for a rigid bike. They don't have/require any type of support bracket(s). After running it like a dog for a few hundred miles I cracked the front pipe on the factory weld, and I don't have a tig welder. Tried to fix it w/ my mig but it was pretty sloppy. Lesson learned$$$$$$
