I think I just posted about Rat bikes in the what's in a name thread.
I like rats. I think people who think rat implies junk is just mis-informed and just needs to have his A#! kicked, excuse me needs to be educated.
#1 Rat bikes are no nonsense bikes that are rode hard, rode often and not pampered.
#2 You had better not call my rides rats unless you're a close friend.
But here are my 2.

There is a lot of character in this baby.

More pics in my galery.

Count me in as well.

I comb craigslist every few days looking for an old sporty that has seen better days just for this purpose. Yeah, I could do it to my current ride but it just feels wrong. I want someone else to mess it up then let me just get it back to road worthy and ride it like an 18 year old gymnast.

Rat bike thread sounds good to me. I didn't have a camera with me at the time, but last summer I saw a bike that had an aluminum coffee pot for an oil tank, small size stainless steel beer keg on back for a gas tank, lots of stuff. Had twine like used for baling hay wrapped tightly around the handlebars and elsewhere on the bike. It wasn't a Harley, think it was some sort of an old Triump. He had stopped in at the Harley Deaker here, definitely had peole gathered around his bike taking pics and asking him about it. He was in Missouri and bike had Kentucky plates, he wasn't afraid to ride it.

And ratster owners will want their own sub-section in the forum cause their bike is not like other sportsters!:sofa

OH NO !! HArley will come out with the 1200RT now The RATSTER !!!

Think of the production cost they can save NO PAINT !!

I think RAT bikes are cool if they are ratted from years of hard use,And being fixed, and held together. But to take a new bike and intentionally try to make it a rat is just about as Posing as it gets .... IMHO:D
