Has anyone seen a different set-up for a dual carb throttle cable? I kind of want to ditch the factory drum piece on my XR and go with something slicker. I think I remember seeing Weber make one that looked like it would work, but I can't find it now.

VA,

Think your XR1000 setup is similar to the XR750 racer. Storz has a dual cable XR750 style quarter turn race throttle in their dirt track section. My factory XR750 manual is packed for an up coming move, so I can't get you the factory numbers or a supplier recommendation. Try some of the suppliers on flattrack.com. You may find what you are looking for. Good Luck!

The Barnett cable assembly is exactly what you are looking for and throttle bearing available from J&P cycles make twisting the throttle much easier and much more precise; you actually have more control of your ride. it gets rid of that sloppy fat friction junction barrel under the tank

Great. I'll have to get rid of that drum assembly when I put the flat track tank on it anyway. Any idea if the the Barnett cables will fit on Mikunis, or just the stock Delortos?

Hi, I put a set of 1 into 2 cables on my XR the cables were similar to the Ducati type with a slider (I think it was from Bandit??), Now i'm geting a new pair of stockies to put the original drum type back on, because with the duke type you have to twist your arm backward to get full throttle. So I wouldn't recommend it just clean out the drum and get some new cable, this way you will be able to keep it up on the back wheel easier.
