The official XLF Toolbar is now available for Internet Explorer and Firefox.

Now I know you are asking what the heck is the XLF toolbar and why the heck do I need it?

The XLF toolbar is a toolbar that is added to your IE or Firefox browser that provides:

1. A quick link to XLF (just click on THE XL FORUM on the very left side of the bar).
2. Search function for searching the Internet
3. RSS feeds of popular XLF forum categories. (RSS feeds show you the title of recent threads and if you click on the title the thread will open in your browser.) I will add feeds from XLF as time goes on and your toolbar will automatically update if you set it to. OR you can refresh it yourself on the toolbar options.
4. Messages - These will be messages that I send to users of the XLF Toolbar
5. Email Notifier - You can input you email settings in this and it will tell you if you receive any new email.
6. XLF Chat - Another way to chat with XLF members - This is a private chat room for XLF Toolbar users
7. Your local weather (you have to set your location)
8. Internet radio ( you must install an additional plug-in for it to work in Firefox)

The XLF toolbar looks like this when installed in your browser:

You can hide any of the features that you are not interested in, in the toolbar options. The toolbar options are found by clicking on the down arrow directly to the right of The XL Forum

The toolbar is spyware free, virus free, and there are no pop-ups.

The XLF Toolbar

DOES NOT spy on your browsing habits.

DOES NOT launch pop-up or pop-under advertisements.

DOES NOT "hijack" your searches.

DOES NOT modify pages you visit.

DOES NOT block uninstallation. The XLF toolbar can be removed in seconds by using a standard uninstaller.

DOES NOT create security holes: The XLF toolbar will not make it easier for other people or programs to access your computer.

DOES NOT and will not sell or rent your email address and other personal information.

You can get the XLF toolbar HERE (http://xlforumtoolbar.forumtoolbar.com/).

There is also a link to download it from the Main Menu on the side of the main XL Forum portal page, in the System messages, and on the banner on the bottom of the forum pages.

Ahhh... one more add-on... So when are we deving the pick line for the xlf?
Nothing better than a direct feed right into the system...
Looks nice Bert. The weather link will come in handy.

Very cool. Any chance of getting the "Subscribed Threads" quick link on the toolbar? That would make staying on top of my XLF activities that much quicker.

Hey Bert

There is a Media Player active X pluggin that fixes the functionality of the toolbar radio in Firefox...double click the yellow triangle that shows up in the radio button area when you try to connect and it opens a window for the pluggin...

Yeah, but since I run Portable Firefox from a USB stick I am having difficulties getting the plug in installed. I will try again tonight.

I don't think so because then I would have to create an RSS feed for every member!!

What determines the refresh rate and order of the RSS feeds? I'm looking at toolbar categories that aren't showing messages that are in the actual forum category and the messages seem to be in no particular order. Picking the refresh option does not seem to be forcing the toolbar to update and include the missing messages.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or just don't understand it but ...

The XL Forum toolbar has not updated it's RSS feeds for the various forum categories since the day I installed it. I'm still looking at the same list of topics every day and the refresh buttons do nothing.
