Its getting really excitng now. I got a call on Friday that my local dealer was uncrating a 2010 iron, yesterday I finished and passed my safety douse and visited the dealer to see the bike. Still dry and in plastic but they let me sit on it. Its like the stars have aligned for me and THIS bike. I'll get my endorsement tomorrow, and go back to see and hopefully test ride the bike. Oh, my butt was the first in the saddle. Feels like good mojo to me. I did my taxes today, so when I get my refund, I'll be making a purchase. When I go to look again on Thursday, I'll take a picture. NW HD will give me 500 to spend on accessories if I buy by the end of the month. Just waiting on the refund now. Its so exciting. My first brand new vehicle, one of my two big childhood dreams fulfilled... I'm gonna be bouncing off the walls for the next two weeks.

Currently "riding" in my plastic Saturn cage. Got my endorsement this morning, and I slept OK last night. I'm closing at work all this week, so I get home pretty tired. Its just getting through work without bouncing off the walls or dying of boredom. I'm gonna go take a test ride on Thursday and talk numbers. If it goes well ill be making a deposit. Don't want it getting sold out from under me now do I?

PERFECT!!!
Very happy for you!
this dose of bouncing off the walls is good training.
I still love it and get excited every time I go for a ride, and after I get back.
When I bought the bike I have now,it took some time.
The money was from a trust fund
My sister tells us the money should be in this week(may'09)
I had started looking already.
Found the bike I wanted, made the deposit.
ALL of my sisters' money came in and mine was last.
Called the dealer, told them I had the money.
Bank says "we have to hold the check for 10 days till it clears"
CRAP I said "OK I'll call the dealer and tell them forget it"
Teller says"Hold on, let me talk to my manager"
She comes out and says" How much did you need?"
15k
"OH,OK who do I make it out to?"
So my excitement was tame for a moment, but they let me have the bike money and I couldn't have cared less how long the rest was held.....well,just a little

taking the class was a good start to riding. hope it works out, and put a deposit down asap. if someone brings money they will sell it to whoever comes up with the money first. best thing i ever did was buy a harley. now all i do is ride and read things like this forum for more info.

Wow, no trust fund for me.... I actually had to go to work to save enough to purchase our bikes...

good luck, & try to get some sleep! That way you'll be good & rested when you get the bike - because once you get it, you'll get even less sleep - trust me. You'll be either riding it, thinking about riding it, thinking where you'll ride it & what all you want to do to it. It'll may also turn you a bit narcissistic; thinking that the only reason it's raining or cold is because you wanted to ride. ;)

Yeah, hopefully it won't be TOO rainy or cold. I don't really think weather will stop me unless there is ice or snow though. My MSF course was in a combination of spitting and constant rain and it really wasn't that bad. As long as I can stop my helmet from fogging, I think I'll be ok. Everything it all set now, ALL the paperwork is filled out, I just need to get my refund so I can actually take the bike home. Today being Friday, I have no more than 7 days to wait. They got me talking to a parts guy when I went in yesterday. They're one of THOSE dealers... "You can't do pipes without a SERT and a dyno tune!!" Yeah.. I understand engines and fuel injection systems well enough to fiddle with my own tuning (Not REALLY well, but I could stop the bike from self destructing).. He's all like "When you put pipes on, the air gets sucked out of the cylinder too fast and burns on both sides of the exhaust valves, and burns them up" Uh huh.... With a mixture as lean as these bikes are at the factory, I don't think there's any unburned fuel in the exhaust.... But whatever. I'm gonna do all the work myself unless I start messing with the intake side. HEY! That new Forty Eight... Looks like a nice bike to steal parts from. I want that front end on my iron! Ok, I'm getting excited and I'm starting to ramble. I'll post pics when I get it. Thanks for the support with advice and answering questions, even if I didn't heed very much of what was said, I appreciate it. Heck, even I didn't shop around for a better deal like I said I would.

If you're wearing a full face helmet, crack the shield just a hair to break the seal & that will help the fogging. Have fun

Well,I did work for my father, and made him some money.
I put in PLENTY of time at work.
Is 30 years in the hall OK?
OK The cop bike I was talking about?
When I bought it I asked the parts guy about pipes and air cleaners, knowing there would be tuning involved.
He started in like you were saying,"2hrs for this 2-4hrs for the dyno, blah, blah, blah"
I got my V&H tuner, looked it up on line, got the numbers to punch in and was on my way.
>The tuner comes with numbers but you look on line for an update.<
So Downtown HD lost a lot of money because the parts guy was prepping me for a BIG dyno bill.
I would just ride the thing for a while, then ask a few indie places what they think, and ask around on here.
It is the guys job to sell stuff, they all have a "Chrome guy", but if he isn't wise, well, I go some place else.
