Anyone available to ride this Saturday?? I know that Pirate50 is available.

Mark883 rode his bike from NW Ohio to San Diego this past week and I want to organize a breakfast ride. He is leaving Saturday and heading North to Frisco and then east to Yosemite and then back home.

Yesterday we met at 4:15 and I was going to take him up PCH after we toured La Jolla. What we ended up doing was LANE SPLITTING in traffic for several hours, NOT FUN!! I felt bad, but I did take him to Old Town for dinner (thanks again for dinner, Mark) and then to Balboa Park.

I thought it would be possible to go north since he is heading that way if some of the people that way would like to meet??

How far north do you plan on riding? I might be able to meet up if I get some stuff done Friday.

I may be able to hang for a minute. Are you just passing through the L.A. area?

Doubt I will go through LA. I don't like all of the freeway riding.

All hail Road Chick! An excellent tour guide, she couldn't do anything about the traffic. That was just our scheduling misfortune.

I thought the lane splitting was kinda fun, in a sick way- we don't get to do that in Ohio. Where else can you ride within inches of BMW 700s, 800s, Mercedes CLKs, AMGs, and various Lexi?? (and that piece of crap Toyota pickup) Oh, the mirrors you could smash. A scary thought at times. As much fun as Friday night racing, as long as you don't hit anyone, or get taken out by someone blindly changing lanes.

I've looked on my map, I'm going to Encino, specifically exit 21 off US101. (Balboa Blvd) Google has me take I-5, but I-405 also looks fairly direct? I heard that 5 is a hellroad, but isn't 405 as well? What are they like on a Saturday? Just as bad as anytime else?

Oh, and those attending get to see what a FLSTC looks like after 2300 miles of bugs and an Arizona duststorm. Anyone got a hose?

Consider staying on 101 and taking that up to San Francisco. Much more scenic and less hectic than 405/5. If you've really got time, you can take California 1 north from San Luis Obispo through Big Sur, Monterey, etc. One of the best rides in the country.

Willing to ride for a while, if your heading to San Francisco. I'm in Redwood City, which is about 30min south of the City, right between 101 and 280.

Make the time, lots of time, to go up Pacific Coast highway from Malibu. The 5 is flat, boring, ugly, and very hot this time of year. Meet with Johnny G. He is a great guide. Saturday is not too bad in terms of traffic. But you never know.
