If you can't find a kit, I am happy to give you advise about making your own. Also, you might try to contact Pilot. I think he was in the works for creating a kit, but not 100% sure.

i'm gonna build one for my '68 rigid. i have an idea that i think will work & let me shift with my left hand. nick, yours looks good but ours has a right side shifter--makes it a little more difficult. how did you hook up your foot clutch??

I wouldn't even need the foot clutch.....My bike has the shifter on the right hand side....any ideas for the linkage??

Frank- I cut down the stock cable and attached it to the stock foot shifter pedal.
1974moneypit- do you have any pictures to post??? I don't know what it looks like.

that's what i planned to do---cut the stock cable & make a bracket to run it to my left forward control pedal, which is currently the rear brake. i will then rig the right pedal, which is now the shifter, to control the rear brake. the hardest part is to build a jockey set-up that will transfer from the right side to the left . i'm gonna first try bending a rod to come across the cases behind the rear jug---on my paughco set-up i've got plenty of room there. i'm hoping that i can just bend it in a "s" shape & make it work instead of having to use linkage of some sort.

Frank- Sounds cool, you should post pictures when you make some progress. If you need any pictures of my shifter you can PM your email and I will send you some. Good luck with your project!!!! :smoke

Cool bike! I would say just bring it over, but from the looks of the snow in the background I am assuming you are really far from the Dallas area!!! What style of shifter do you want? I mean, do you want the handle by the tank like mine or do you want it to be behind your leg?

Hmm.....good question, probably by the leg if possible

You can mount it anywhere you want. By changing where the fulcrum (pivot) is, you can make it upshift by pulling or pushing on the shifter. I made a shifter for a buddy where he pulled on the shifter arm to upshift(1nd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th). No problem (if you have access to a welder). We had his chromed & it looks very nice. But, it's your bike. Do it the way YOU want. ENJOY...

Have a welder and am capable but just haven't looked really closely at where/what the mount should look like and where it should be. You have any pictures of your creation??

Sorry, no pics. Just come off the top motor mount & depending on whether you want to pull or push, fasten rod to shifter either above or below shifter shaft where it comes out of the cases...
