View Full Version : Honda 750 Fours
Hogwylde 21st July 2007, 04:46 I don't know what prompted me to start looking up info on this bike but found some pictures I just had to share. Aren't these fantastic?

theoldog 21st July 2007, 05:35 Yeah, they are some neat ol bikes! the first pic is a CBX, in line 6 banger, badass old bike!
apocoloco 21st July 2007, 05:39 I used to have a 750 four. It was an old bike when I got it in '84, but it ran great. A previous owner had done a pretty pathetic chop job on it, but I didn't care. It was still a cool old bike.
khaskins 21st July 2007, 05:45 Had a 1978 CB750 Sport model. I still miss that bike. We had great adventures on the east coast, when I was stationed at Ft. Bragg.
Gone 21st July 2007, 05:50 When it comes to looks, the air-cooled engines can really put it out. Water-coolers are mostly just big blocks of aluminum, though the V-Rod has tried to capture that "look". The Suzuki, GS series machines were eye-catchers, too.
Joe Dirt 21st July 2007, 06:04 UJMs are cool. Here's some pics that I took earlier this summer.

bshadbolt 21st July 2007, 06:37 I have a '72 CB350 Four that I'm restoring and converting to a cafe racer and also own a '89 GSX750 ESG and a '92 GSX400SSN Katana among my various bikes. All good fun.
Cheers,
Brett

Yep. I had a '71 CB 750. totally rode the hell out of it :) Utterly reliable and would go faster than I had the stones to take it. Open the throttle and the engine would just keep climbing until you ran out of nerve.
The Honda 750-4 ended the British bike era. It almost ended Harley also.
Finally a person could ride a motorcycle and not have to be a mechanic.
Other Japanese bike companies followed with their version of "big bikes".
You could feel the shift if you were there (especially if you owned a British bike).

I had the baby version when I was a youngster,the 500 four.
I wanted a Harley but it was a cheap reliable used bike with only 25K on the clock and a big step up from my CB350 :D

We did not get the 400 Katana stateside - along with many of the coolest bikes made.

Amen Brother:) It was the direct pressure of this motorcycle, on the riding market that very nearly ended Harley. If Harley had not developed the Evolution motor, under AMF tutoring and money, it would have ended Harley IMHO. The Honda 750 four was, quite literally, the motorcycle that changed the world.
Bigmatt 22nd July 2007, 14:31 Used to have a 1974 Honda 750 K-4 back in the early 80's. Had a 836 big bore kit, cam, K&N air filters and 4 into 2 exhaust. That thing rocked !!! Sure wish I still had it :(

I had a 72 350 four too. It was my first street bike. It was a great running bike and had a Hooker Header on it that sounded fantastic.
Snuffy 2nd August 2007, 21:30 Had a 450 honda twin rode the hell out of it all over southern Cally and a 500 4 smoothest scooter I ever rode
83XLX 2nd August 2007, 21:42 Speaking of old Hondas, take a look at my little CL350 cafe racer. It's in a shed out back - I really ought to get it on the road again (needs new carb diaphrams and a new battery), but the Ironhead's taking all my spare time.:p

planb 2nd August 2007, 21:56 Nice looking bike, 83XLX!
On the 750's, rumor has it Honda is considering making a "retro" 1969 CB750 for those that miss them...I wonder how they'll do? Here's an article:

Felix 3rd August 2007, 03:24 Triumph started making the Bonnie again
Ducati has their retro line
Harley has never really stopped making classic looking bikes
I wish Honda would start making a retro version of the old CB750. I buy one in a minute.

Yeah they where cool and changed a lot of things in the motorcycle world that's for sure. When they first came out there was a big billboard type sign a couple of blocks from where i grew up with a '69 CB750 for $995.00 on the other side there was a ford maverick for $1995.00. A 1000 bucks for the nicest bike around and only 2 grand for a brand new car. Almost seems like another world now!
shady 4th August 2007, 04:33 Just picked up this puppy last week $1000 Mint cond

rjg883c 15th August 2007, 06:32 I rode a friend's 1969 CB750 and it was pretty impressive at the time. For years I thought my 1972 CB500 was the best bike I had ever owned. Then I got my 1985 Magna and thought it was the best. I haven't been able to put enough time on my Harley yet to see how it compares.
kdarejr 15th August 2007, 06:47 I just picked up a 1971 Cl 350 rough shape and no paper for free but I do have to go back and get a bill of sale and the bro in law offered me a 1971CB 350 complete bike I just have to figger out how to go get it !
