Does anyone know why main jets are bigger on european sportsters than on 49 states ones? The HD service manual mention 190 main for swiss and HDI 883 and 200 for 1200.
What jet will one use to pay the Harley tax?

170 main and 40 low speed will do it. That's stock set up for a 1200.

Don't forget the choker breather box and stock pipes!

I'm sure this has been kicked around lots of times, but I just changed to CS slip ons and K & N air cleaner, now am getting ready to install 45 slo jet and 180 main in my XL 1200, 1995 model. Is this the right choice? thanks to all

Domi ...
That's a big jet for a stock bike. I would bet that since it uses such a large main jet, that the needle is also thicker than the US spec model .. Just my guess. Anyway, the stock main jet in a 04-05 US spec 1200 is a 180.
The best combo that has worked for me on my 04 1200 is the DynoJet kit using a 170 main jet and a 45 slow/pilot jet. But again, the DynoJet kit uses a thinner needle than your stock needle.
