Joe Leonard had triple bypass heart surgery at San Jose Regional Medical Center on Monday. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and we wish him a speedy recovery.

He has requested that we hold off sending emails because of the large volume he already receives. It would also be best for us to allow him privacy while he recovers in the next few weeks. This includes phone calls to his home and the Hospital. If you wish to send a card, his mailing address is:

For those that didn't know Leonard rode a Harley and won the first AMA Grand National Championship Series in 1954 and won it again in 1956 and 1957. His record totals 27 wins, including the 1957 and 1958 Daytona 200. He retired from motorcycle racing at the completion of the 1961 season and turned his attention to auto racing.

Yes, and after turning his attention to Indy cars he won a championship there as well. The first man to win national championships on 2 and 4 wheels.
