Absolutely.

She showed me she could today.......and she had more, too....

Don't know where the rev lim is, but I didn't hate the way she sounded! (no tach)

stock gearing...um..my guess is an overly optimistic speedo, a really worn tire or you are revving the begeezus out of it, my buddies 94 883 says the same thing but his speedo reads like 15mph fast for any given actual speed.

 I didn't know the 883 could even top 100 with it's gearing. I could be wrong but I thought it had a top speed of 95 or so.

Actually, my speedo keeps up with my GPS. No issues there....

Then you must be revving it higher than normal or higher than mine since I have taller gearing, I think my 1200 comes out of 4th at 100 ish, I will let you know tommorow.

Just went for a quick little ride today since the weather is so nice (75ish). I hit 60 in 3rd pretty easy, so I believe you could get'er out at 100 in fourth. I wouldnt reccomend it, I hate the way it sounds in 5th @ 100. I dont mind spinning her up, but I dont like sustained high rev's. Anyone know the math on the RPM's in 4th at 100mph and 5th at 100mph

Microsoft Excel says you're at about 5700 RPM...

What I found out today (that I didn't realize previously) was that 4th gear winds out quite nicely......can't comment on the R's, but as I said, she sounded happy to me.....

Maybe a tach for xmas?

Some bikes are just stronger than others. I have a basically stock 883 and so do two friends of mine. Out of the three bikes mine will walk away from the others on the top end. Mine has seen 100mph in 4th a few times, and i agree it does sound pretty sweet.

Hey I'm impressed  . Running 85 in fifth is as much as I want to push it.

Well here in SoCal if your doing 85 your probably getting passed by an old lady in a station waggon :bump

My 1200R will hit the limits suggested earlier, but tach speeds seem high and she often feels like she's internally hemorrhaging at 5,000. Attached (hopefully) is an ALL GEAR DYNO showing shift point at 86 out of 3rd and 104 out of 4th. On the road, it's different, maybe 92-96 out of 4th with a rider load, wind, and road friction (Dyno always seems to me to be a bit optimistic and unrealistic!).

I've done a registered 110 in 4th (fastest I've gone), and it was about 6000 rpm.

I figured it was about 5 mph high, so the chart looks right :wonderlan
