Would like to lower the back 1 or 2 inches and maybe bring the bars back a little at the same time. Is a lowering kit the best way to go and if so any suggestions on which kit. Also would like to bring the bars back another 1" or 2. Tried a 2 1/2" pull back riser but wouldn't clear the tank as high as it sits. Don't want the bars higher, but to come back closer so my arms aren't stretched out. Thanks.

Welcome to the board Buffalobob,
I'd say to sit'er down a bit you should go with lower shocks, and forget about the lowering kits. I'm not exactally sure how tall the 1200R shocks are, but I dont think they're as low as the 1200C. Check out the progressive 412's, alot of folks on here run'em and seem to really like the look as much as the proformance. Sorry I cant be any help with the bars question, but I know someone will know

I just put 11.5" Progressive 412's on my 04 1200R. It dropped quite a bit. Nuts for Sissy bar on inside of fender are really close to tire. I think stock shocks are 13.25".

I was also thinking of going with the 11.5" 412's on my 1200R because I like the look,,but I like the way the bike rides with the stock height,,will lowering it in the rear effect the handling for better or worse, I like twisty mountain roads and mid controls so would I be better off with the stock lenght 412's,,thanks

883L bars are a good compromise pullback type bar. Part # 56038-05. Check 'em out.

Will,
Do you know whether the existing cables will work or do you have to go with longer ones? That sounds like a pretty simple way to go, and I'd consider it on mine if there isn't a whole bunch of modification involved...thanks!

I don't know what bars you now have. I didn't have to change anything from the sport bars.

I'm not sure what the '05 1200 Roadster has, other than they're short! I tried to find that part number you posted on the H-D website, but it was being stubborn...same when I tried to find out which ones I had! It's frustrating being a kindergardener on this computer stuff!

I think what you have is the "sport bar". I'm fairly certain thise 883L bars will work as long as you don't put them on too high a riser. I have 4" myself. It's a tough call. If you have thr drag bar setup you may have to replace the controls.

I bought the 05 bars for my 04883--had to buy brake cable, $61.00, the clutch and throttle cables are long enough...
