I have an 02 883R, and would like to know what I can expect after doing a stage 1/Harley Tax upgrade.

Thanks

I did stage 1 on my '02 883C. It's not a huge difference, but it is noticeable, & the bike will run a little better at highway speed, it will start & warm-up better, & it will certainly sound better. A lot depends on your riding style. That being said, I'm glad I did it.

Picked up some used HD slip ons at myrtle beach, ran out of money,no plastic. The pipes need re-chroming... they dont chrome im md. so i've been told.

Well for me, my scooter runs MUCH better, has more power, better throttle response, carb farts are gone and she warms up much quicker. All I have to do is pull out my enricher and start her up and then I slowly push myb enricher halfway and then I ease her all the way in and she sounds bitchen.

Since I did the 1,000 mile service and switched to Synthetic 3, she runs much cooler and shifts much smoother.

Yeah, I think an angel at HD put my bike together...

Thanks to all who replied. when I bought the bike it came with the SE 2 into 1 pipes and an SE ingnition coil (not the SE ignition module) I dont beleive there was anything else done except for the SE sprkplug wires. I think all I have to do is to re-jet the carb, throw in an SE air cleaner and the SE ignition mod. am I missing anything?

I'd be real surprised if the air cleaner/jetting was still stock. It seems to me that if the previous owner did all that to it, they'd surely do the intake as well.

I am waiting to hear back from the dealer. I actually bought it new in 02. But the paperwork does not list the parts that were added. Maybe they just had some of the stuff in stock. who knows.

The dealer around here drills the jets, that's why i don't like that get a few years down the road or a new onwer and nobody knows what size jets they have.

I am going to have a buddy of mine do the jet ceramic coating on my drag pipes. It is the same stuff they use on headers. Supposed to make the pipe cool to the touch.

(I ruined a $150 pair of boots the other day on them. Melted the soles real good on em)
