I've got the shifter made for my bike now I'm stuck at the cable part. My plan was to buy a generic harley cable and cut it down and use it on my stock shifter pedal. I know that alot of harley clutch cables should be pretty much the same for alot of different bikes. Am I right? What kinds of bikes cables would be interchangable w/ a 01 sporty motor? I don't care about length, just where it goes into the primary. I want to make sure it fits in there correctly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks....Brian

Check out the Barnett website at www.barnettclutches.com They have custom cables.

I would start with a cable that is correct for the primary. You should be able to get custom ends that will adapt to your home made clutch pedal. I would think as 'U' type connector would work.

Check around also with your local independent Harley custom shops. They might be able to come up with a fitting for you. :smoke

Lucky, I have done it and I have pics. Will send tonight when I get home.

I used the stock clutch cable hooked up to my stock shifter lever.

triple X , I like the way you used a linkage setup to get your handle up and back instead of just clamping a lever to the shifter shaft , that makes it look well thought out and not just a bolt on

cleans up the bike nice, good job

harley had a similer setup on their wlc's the canadian version of the wla or army bike

seems the canucks just couldn't get usta a foot clutch so harley put a hand clutch on that worked with the foot clutch , it was advertized as to be used for start and stops only and the foot clutch was for shifting gears (as you had to use the same hand to clutch and shift)

yeah, I was thinking about doign a linkage also. I've seen it on a custom built XL in The Horse, but haven't looked at my bike to figure out the mechanism yet.

its a completely different ride. I have known others who thought it would be great, they didn't like it. I don't run a front brake and with the suicide shift you must downshift to neutral to stop. Its alot of work when your riding just keep that in mind but let me say that for me I LOVE IT! You end up using your stock shift linkage and shift arm, its just inverted.

I don't know, I ride a rigid and I really like the look of no front brake and a suicide shifter but to actually run all of the above on a daily basis... Yeah, I'll be right with you just as soon as my 6-penny nail seat, razor blade pegs and grease grips come in! Don't wait on me man I'll catch up no worries 'cause I'm running rocket fuel too with a stage 8 nitro methane back pack kit. It's all good! Anybody heard anything about that prototype super-megaforceramchargerinduction system Vocipherous Velociraptor is supposed to be coming out with next decade? Just wondering if that's gonna be hot. :wtf :banana

Here is a pic of my setup, not the most professional setup in the world, but uses stock forward controls with no modifications except a cut clutch cable. total cost was $15.00 for the shift knob. I have over a 1000 miles of HARD riding on it now, and it is an absolute blast, if you are the type that likes the comfort and ease of riding a dyna wide glide, don't do it, but if you are someone that enjoyes RIDING his bike, I HIGHLY recomend this setup.

maybe you could get the pieces together for that setup and sell it to some sporty owners....just a thought. been thinking of setting my 04 with a suicide shift. but always expensive bolt on kits. so i've been trying to figure out how to rig it on my own also. you make it look easy!! great job.
