Rode to work yesterday and on my way home (I work night shifts) got kind of tired and began to yawn. Before I realized what I was doing a large bug hit me in the roof of my mouth.

Man did that suck big time. It was like a f :censor ked up episode of Fear Factor! :laugh

I almost dumped my ride trying to hock up a bug half dead and squirmin' around still. The only good thing is I hadn't just eaten or I would have yaked while bouncin' down the road.

I'm either going to never yawn while riding at night or get a face mask.

Yes I have a windshield, it's collecting dust in the corner of my room. but a windshield on a bike, might as well be in a cage.

No offense taken, it's part of the fun in riding. It would have been hilarious except it happend to me, it was just funny after the fact. It was like being one of the 3 stooges riding a morotcycle.

If your from central florida then you know this. There is nothing worse than riding in to swarm of love bugs. Windshield or not your gonna get a few bugs. You can see the swarm but there is no avoiding them.

Yes indeed -- last few weekends at the end of my ride I have to sit down and scrape lovebugs off my faceshield. Even have to get them out of the air cleaner...

I'm with you, I have nothing against windshields, I just choose not to use one. I ride with my mouth shut tight and if I yawn, my hand goes over my mouth. :laugh

I just let the bugs hit my jacket, and then when I get hungry I can peel them off like the old paper candy strips and pop'um.... Yum... bug poppers...
The Tabasco is a good idea!!! :D

Every now and then I feel something wet hit my lips. ??? i dont know what it is. It might be moisture in the air (very humid in Houston), or it could be bug piss. I've trained myself not to lick my lips when i feel this. You are instantly trained the first time you taste something sour.

No sheild here and millions of bugs digested and no major damage done...at least I don't see it:) Grasshoppers are my favorite...wait a minute, those hard shelled June bugs are pretty fun too. After a good ride, there isn't anything quite like running your fingers through your hair and knocking out all those bugs. I feel like I am in training to be an Orkin Man:) I just have a cooler method or death to bugs.

I've eaten 100's of bugs ridin', this one was huge, I was half-asleep not paying attention and crunched on the roof of my mouth while I was yawning & speedin' down the road.

I'm just lettin' the sporty masses know what not to do when ridin' home late night from work.

I've learned that I need to check a mirror after a ride and before I try to kiss my wife. Last time I tried to kiss her, it was "EEEUUHH! BUG GUTS!

I've inhaled and ingested my share of bugs, but I had a unique experience the other day.
It was toward the end of an all day ride. I was about 45 min from home. I rode past some hanging flowers that were blooming beside the road...
I got a bee up my nose! :yikes
That's right, I got stung in my left nostril. I dug it out while I slowed and headed to the shoulder. I didn't know a gloved finger would fit up my nose.
I know I musta looked like a fool on the side of the road, looking in my mirror trying to dig that stinger out of my nose. :cry1
Don't want to repeat that one :frownthre

ride to work every morning, between mosquitos, dragon flies and other assorted insects I usually get a full breakfast. And the best part is it's free. Enjoy.

Glad I have one of those /chin-button flip faces....:)

Couldn't see bupkis with it down....had to stop at a gas station to squeegee it off...

One more reason to wear a full face helmet.

I had one of those bee in the helmet experences, while riding, not going very fast I felt a bug hit the corner of my sun glasses. All of a sudden I hear this buzzing in my ear. I get over to the side of the road ASAP. I took off my helmet and there he was mad as H**L and sting the inside of my helmet to beat the band. I gave one quick flick making him let go of the material inside on the helmet and off he went to bother someone else.

I felt very lucky.

Longshot, that's funny that you should mention that. I was just reading all the arguments that are going on about the Tennessee helmet law and that was one of them "have you ever gotten a bee in your helmet?"
