engine 13th December 2004, 00:36 Here are some pics. Remember this is still a work in progress.
I'm contemplating blending in the weld beads..what do you think? I know I have to get rid of the spatter amrks, though.

wickedsprint 13th December 2004, 00:56 I really like the mounts you have started with on the rear fender braces, but I think the rest of the bar, although showing a good amount of skill to weld and shape, is not my style. I think they digress too much from the lines of what a sportster should look like.
skooter 13th December 2004, 01:30 Very Cool! My opinion...paint it black!
stevo 13th December 2004, 01:59 good to see something origional...well done...I'd blend the welds and powdercoat it...but that's just me.
bud095 13th December 2004, 02:00 i think its very cool,powder coat it!
Mountainrun 13th December 2004, 02:18 Looks sharp fer sure.

Problem is, that now I don't think the spade ornament I made will match...

rottenralph 13th December 2004, 03:02 You could always cut the top angle out and weld the spade in there. I would lay it over the top section photo again and let us see what it would look like. I think it would look great and tone down the aggressive lines of the rest of the bars.
engine 13th December 2004, 05:51 I was thinking of making a bracket probably 6" down from the middle point and mounting the spade there...I still have to see. I'll take a pic of the bar with the spade laying on it, and see what you guys think.
collinsb 13th December 2004, 06:37 It looks great Engine! Your very talented!
Billy
planb 13th December 2004, 09:14 I like it! Keep going so we can see the finished product! :clap
cypher 13th December 2004, 15:19 Nice piece of work! Good job.
engine 13th December 2004, 22:26 thanks...but I wouldn't say that I'm talented...there are a lot of things that I wish I could do better...I'm just getting by on the skin of my teeth...
skooter 13th December 2004, 22:37 I agree with collinsb and stevo very talented work and nice to see someone doing something original. The welding looks first class.
whiffy 14th December 2004, 23:53 Hi Eng,
The mounts are really good, the rest looks like a lethal weapon..I'd hate to be on the wrong end of that cissy bar going down the road!
Whiffi
Mountainrun 15th December 2004, 03:08 That spade will look good on there. I like your idea for positioning. I dunno. I'm thinkin' chrome.
toothygrin 15th December 2004, 03:51 Awesome work! Makes me want to dust off the ol' welder and make me one. Altho for what I paid for the factory chrome hirise sissybar for my bike, maybe I autta let it deperciate some first. :clap
live_loud 21st December 2004, 19:14 I really like that. One of the coolest things I have seen all year. Good job. I was thinking about how to do a good sissy bar. now I know! right on!
engine 21st December 2004, 23:18 thank you. There are updated pics in the Sportster Discussion Forum.
