Was going to purchase a Licks Solo Bag, a tool bag, and a gas cap but upon checkout, the invoice listed only two available shipping options for my address in California.

Express Mail - $54.00
Priority Mail - $25.10

That seems a bit excessive, especially since the solo bag is back ordered and estimated wait is minimum 2 weeks. I've shipped about a hundred items selling on ebay so I know maybe $10 bucks, 15 tops for the items I want.

Any constructive comments? If I'm just being cheap let me know. I just want a reasonable price for the services Im getting.

I have to agree with you. You could ship it UPS or Fedex cheaper than that. I would find what I wanted somewhere else.

I agree that shipping is quit pricey. No matter what coast you call home.

A local leather shop in san jose ca just started making the same bag for about 50 bucks less. its not on their website yet but you should send them an email or give them a call about it. www.justleathers.com

Yea it does to me, I do quite a bit of ebay and other shipping myself.
Guess they have not seen "if it fits it ships" commercial.
7 lbs is not heavy and it should not be that big of a package I sent a big package about a month ago and it weighed about 5lb and with insurance maybe 20 -25 bucks.
are they adding insurance and adding a "handling fee

This is the second or third Licks thread I have seen in about a month.

There's a company that makes an identical bag plus they make a right side bag too. If memory serves me right the Licks bag only comes in the left side??? I wish I could remember the name of the co. I'll have to see if I can find it again.

Recently I ordered a new 16 gallon fuel tank for my 64 Fairlane. Needless to say the package was large and heavy. Shipping via FedEx was only $25 and it arrived the next day. Those shipping charges you are looking at are ridiculous. Don't pay that if you don't have to.

I had one of these as a christmas present here in the uk and I dont think I paid that much.

Question the shipping weight, they certainly to not weight 7lbs 7 oz or whatever.

There is the obvious error....

I'd be curious to see what your shopping cart total would add up to with shipping.

I agree! I buy lots of stuff online, and have never paid that much for shipping! :frownthre Lots of places have free shipping, and some have free return shipping.

Depends on where you love.
If they ship the bag from MA to WV, Express mail is only $14
However, if they ship to CA it would be $25.

I also don't think the bag would fit in one of the Flat Rate Boxes.

I can tell you from personal experience that none of the solo bags will fit in the postals LARGE flat rate box, nevermind in addition to the tool bag. Shipping is calculated with handling which in most cases means the cost of the box, tape, and packing material. Sometimes the calculation on the sites shipping is off, not by much. I am sure if you make a quick phone call, AJ would be more than happy to work something out or get you a better quote. Believe me when I say this, Nothing ships cheaper out of Berkshire County than USPS.

hey buddy...sometimes the cart does wig out on certain zipcodes for figuring ship charges...we use postal priority/express for everything and it seems some of their updates dont jive with actual ship cost...id say if ever u guys order from us and the shipping sounds too outta wack...def give us a shout and we will make it good...in this case i can tell u to cali a bag..tool bag and gas cap..should be around $15.00....and if u do happen to check out and then notice the overcharge in ship....give us a head up and we will simply credit back the difference...no worries ...we appreciate all the support we get here from the xl forum members..and for the members just hearing about us...anytime...contact us with any questions or concerns...thanks...aj
