John Lancs UK bills bikes 9th September 2007, 14:42 i like it very nice job jpc_bate 9th September 2007, 14:46 thanks - six months and way too expensive but i am happy with the result. Worst part - waiting for parts to arrive. Why so long...???? jessearias 9th September 2007, 17:30 JPC, Nice work my friend. :clap It is very hard to find parts even here in America for those bikes. I have one myself that I am restoring and yes, it is very expensive. What have you done to the bike? Keep us informed and keep sending pictures. :) jpc_bate 9th September 2007, 18:14 ''What have you done to the bike? Keep us informed and keep sending pictures. '' Hi - what I did was strip the bike down to frame without removing engine and gearbox. I've no idea what if anything has been done to the engine. Forks - vintage cerianis, wheels are borianis but were so good I decided to keep them and found some excel decals on ebay to cover up all writing. If i am ever wealthy i will buy some 'sun rims'. 18 inch wheels for easy road legal tyre choice. storz seat, tank and bars, Bates footpegs, standard rear brake pedal remodelled by a clever engineer friend, single front disc, performance machine controls ( most stuff came from j and p cycles which was great as the pound is strong/ or the dollar weak so the prices were greaT) racing plate made by a local sign maker - he also made the 'champion frame decals. Some dirt track race decals from ebay. mikunis running a bit rich - don't they all? had to wait 4 months for a full rewire and 3 months for the paint - i chose a red with a hint of orange rather than the more authentic colour simply because i liked it. socket covers were removed and severly trimmed and polished. more to follow......... best regards, john ps is it just me or is difficult to post photos on here? chieftd 10th September 2007, 00:23 that is a nice bike! Keep the pics coming. Your bike is more true XR but here's my attempt at the same style (from an earlier thread). At least for me. I have tried following the examples but I always get it wrong. I do think you have to post more than 5 threads in order to post pictures on the site. Mojack 25th September 2007, 02:05 That's nice...what heads are those ? Folkie 25th September 2007, 02:17 Very nice bike John, good job! You need to post 15 posts (not 5 threads) before you can post pics. You managed to attach thumbnails though, which is more than most people manage on their first post (or for some time after actually!). What's that other bike, in the background? jpc_bate 25th September 2007, 11:58 [What's that other bike, in the background? Hi - its a 1946 triumph Grand Prix - very rare, most people never heard of it. One won the Isle of Man TT at that time. I'd post a photo but unable. PS. Never mind the bike - what about the car?!!!!
