Now that the Number of posts has been updated, it would be cool if the Join Date could be corrected to when we joined the original forum.

Hey guys, i take it back! I like the new join date better. Bert, you don't have to fix it. Maybe it makes me a year younger. I'll know if i die a year later than i might have.

A question, why does it matter when you joined? I have been a member since 11/03, I only have a few posts. I see that some have so many, I wonder if they do anything but post. This is only an observation though. I wonder why it even comes up though, number of posts or when someone joined. I personnally don't care, these are just observations. You will notice that I'm on here everynight, I just read and go about my bussiness, if it's interesting I take note, if not oh well.
Only post when I have a quetion, that is the way I do it, I guess for some it is a competion, I don't need to banter back and forth with my fellow members, just so I get my post count up, I think bantering is what gets the count up don't you? Anyway I'll get off my soapbox.ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Hey Z,

It matters because then it would be correct. Right now it is not. Things should be correct. That's all. Please do not assume it is an ego thing.

Oh geez... Mick must be using a mac to surf the web :D Damn engineers always trying to carry things out too many decimal places. It is correct if you round to the nearest decade ;)

Again, why does it matter, can you say forum whores!heheheheheI'm up in the top dozen posters... who the freakin eh cares! Why the hell would it be good for my ego to boast that I have a gazillion posts on some stupid freakin website... if you have been here for a long time and have a low post count I think that's more braggin rights cause it means that you actually have a life rather than waste all your time surfing the damn internet.

This is a forum, it's where people with a common interest chat about stuff and bond in their common interests. I think I've made a lot of friends here. Having peoples real join date show up is another way to think back over time... "oh yea he started coming here back in July, that's right it was right after I got that chrome gadget he got one too and was asking how to install it. Oh yea, remember Jimmy he was around back then too, he hasn't been here in a while, wonder what he's doing now, maybe I'll send him an email."

Again every post makes my point, Gary 1500 howevermany. I'm not saying I care, just an observation. And there are a few that dominate this forum, with bantering, Again It's fine, I'm just watching and chuckling.

zworld,
If you only post when you have a question then thats great...but a lot of the members here like to "banter back and forth" with other members who they share a common interest with.
That is what makes this a huge and successful FORUM and has helped to form a lot of long term friendships.

The dictionary decribes a FORUM as "Place of public discussion, giving opportunity for debate etc".

"Banter on" everyone!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v341/gronk62/thumbani.gif

My comment was on dates and counts. Only that, there is nothing wrong with a little back and forth bantering, but it is very tirsome with all the post pumping is see here. Again, you know who is doing this, the rest very good info sharing I love good info!

If you don't have join dates, how are you going to go about properly chastise new people for not riding their bikes enough...

Andy, do you even ride your bike? How long have you had it? Looking at your first post in June, now also in October, you still don't have a thousand miles on it? And your going to do the conversion, how many miles a month do you average, 250? Just wondering.ZZzzz

Mister Z,

You are very close in your comments to becoming disrespectful. You are entitled to your opinion, and you are entitled to express it, but you are not entitled to imply that i am being dishonest by replying "bull" to my post.

oh settle down everyone who the hell cares if I'm number 2 in the post count

I use the post counts while managing this forum , if I see someone with one post and he's flaming someone then I know somethings not quite right with that flame job and I take action on it. the same with join dates
little things like that help but to just post to see your numbers go up thats kinda dumb but people do it on every forum I've gone to , its part of this new world order we call the net

What I guess gets a little old, is when there is a good thread I am reading, trying to hear reply's on something that interests me, and it gets sidetracked by alot of bantering back and forth. Yes I realize that the bantering referance is getting a little of of the original subject. Join dates and post counts, I feel these are tied together, in that they are some kind of ranking. Which doesn't really matter except for encouraging useless posts.ZZZZZZ

It's another post counter. Do you remember when you started it said "newbie" for a while (until maybe 25 posts)? I think it will change for you at around 50 posts to maybe "Biker", then it changes around 100 posts to "GreaseMonkey", then to "Master Mechanic", then too...

You can get rid of all together by helping Bert with costs and becoming a financial supporter of the site!!! (http://www.xlforum.net/vbportal/modules.php?name=Content&file=viewarticle&id=3)
