My kids are buying me a set of Cycle Shack Turn out slip ons for Xmas, cool kids huh. I was planning on putting them on without doing any re-jetting until I replace my stock AC with the SE AC sometime after that. My bike is a stock 2004 XL 1200C. I was also looking at the J&P Cycles No Hassle Jet Kit, it looks real simple to mess with and it appears that you don't adjust the air fuel screw. I am really only looking at these changes for looks and sound and a little better breathing, it is plenty fast for when I want to hit it and the low end pull is plentiful. Anybody done anything similar and/or have any feedback on the slip ons or jet kit?
Thanks.

:welcome to the forum thesmithiz! Have the same bike and did the SEII with jet kit, you should re-jet to compensate for the new exhaust, stops the burps.

You could put the slip ons with out rejeting. You only need the rejet when you allow more air into the engine. This will not hurt the bike.
As to the J&P kit I have no experience with it. It is easy to rejet and with a 04 should be painless to adjust the mixture screw I would be very hesitant to rejet with out adjusting the mixture.
There one opinion.

Agreed...not necessary, but recommended...the cost and labor are both negligible, and you will be much happier with the results...especially with the SEII air cleaner....
In your case, I would just put in the 88 needle and tune it a bit after pipes and air cleaner....you'll be quite happy, I'm sure...

I highly recommend the no-hassle kit. Simple to install, inexpensive (relative to the DynoJet Kit anyway) and greatly improved the mid-range torque, and eliminated the off-idle stumble. I got mine from J&P also.

Did you drill the mixture screw plug? Also, what bike do you have and which jets did you wind up using?
thanks

Go with the no-hassle kit. You DO need to compensate for less back-pressure without doing the intake. Good rule of thumb is to do half of what you would have (jetwise) if it was a full Stage 1.

Why don't you tell us how you REALLY feel, Turbota? :shhhh :D We all have bad days, but let's try not spill it into the forum.

Looking on JP Cycles website I noticed you can also get a "slow-jet screwdriver", is this required or will any small screwdriver work?
Thanks in advance!

I recently installed a set of SE IIs without the SE intake or jetting and the bike still seams to run (and sound!) a lot better than stock. Could I risk doing any damage without re-jetting?

Can't say that ANY small screwdriver will work, but many of mine (Husky, Craftsman) do. A cabinet screwdriver is somewhat narrower than a standard blade screwdriver and seems to fit better.

G'day guys
here comes the broken record.....
up one size on your pilot and drill out the cover over your pilot mixture screw, as you may not have to adjust the screw anyway
You'll find this is all that is required on MOST HD's with just mufflers...
If that doesn't feel right then come back in and tell us what ya air conditions and riding style are and when ya feel it's not right and what it's doin or not doin and we'll steer ya in the right direction
