This briefly came up in the old site, but no real explanation/ remedy came up, so I'd like to start it again.

I have recently noticed the front fork tubes are getting a dark spot right where the slider seal rides up & down. (BOTH tubes) Has anyone else noticed this? Seeing as there are products that removes blueing from pipes, shouldn't it remove this as well? Just wondering...

I haven't noticed any change, Hero, but you might have quite a few more miles on your bike. I keep a chome polish on the upper "slide in tube",
as I have also wondered if the continuous rubbing would cause discoloring. I've had "boots" covering that area on other bikes. It certainly seems likely that, over time, that area would show some change due to friction.

I'm starting to get the same discoloration. Don't know the cause (sorry), nor have I done anything about it ... yet.

Just over 6000 miles here Billy... should last longer than that! Could be these poor English roads that make them work overtime. (I sometimes think a dirtbike would be better suited for these motorways/ highways..! :laugh )

Had the same problem ... Some Mothers metal polish made them look new again.
