HD Part # 56079-93 mini ape handlebars, anyone out
here have these? I'm interested in seeing pictures
of these on your Sportster. I've seen pics of several
other similar HD mini apes but no interest in the others.
Tia!

Xena these are the bars I was telling you about, there H-D 56563-95 their the same as the 56079-93 bar except their 8.75" rise, the other bar is 10" rise.

Forgot to mention the reason I went with the 56563-95 bar is because the clamp section is a tad shorter and lines up with the Sportsters narrow glide front end better. The 079 bar is wider for the mid glide and wide glide Dynas.

Thanks for the pics Dave. I know those
two part #'s are similar but the pullback
is different as well as the differences you
mention, which is why I really want to
see a pic of a Sporty with the 56079-93 bars.
Your khromewerks look great btw!

Ohhh, I didn't know this ^^^. Thank you!

I don't think those bars have enough pullback for me so I
will keep looking around at different setups.
(very short arms here. lol)

Here is the comparison between the two bars:
Width Base Pulback Clamp Rise
56563-95: 31.5 9.5 8.75 3.14 9.75

56079-93: 32 10 6.5 3.14 8.75

I was actually wrong before the 563 bars are taller then the 079 bars, but the 563s have a longer pullback, a shorter width, and a shorter base secton for the Sporty.

Now the Khrome Werks narrow glides are:

300016: 30.4 9.5 7.19 3.14 9.98

These are very comfortable to me because, I too have short arms and the 30.4 width is nice. If I line these bars up with the forks they have damn near as much pullback as Buckhorns.

Yup. Except the "72" wasn't around in 2010. You brought back
a thread from the dead in case you didn't realize it. ;)

Anyway in staying OT, last year I went with HD bars part # 56075-07
and love em. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/sporty04/paint%20stuff/timingcover_zpsd63f5c7b.jpg

Yea and it seems that you can't get the 56563-95 bars any longer. At least according to my local stealer. Which bummed me out cause I wanted a pair. Anyone know if the chrome works minis are the same or close?

Don't all harley bars have holes in them where the clips hold control wiring to run outside? if you internally wire them you are left with holes?

We are just fitting biltwell apes to my dads 06, I think they look nicer than the stock 12 inch Moco bars. They have to be drilled in the dimples and at the bottom, which isnt that big a problem so far. should be able to get some pics this weekend.

Thanks Xena. I forgot about the House of Harley. They usually have everything when others say they can't get it. And most times they are a little cheaper than the other Stealers. Maybe because they are right there near the factory. Good people at least on the phone. Thanks.

ok, sometimes those online sites list all parts in the catalogs, while the part may no longer be in circulation. i can recall while working at the dealership parts counter, people would come in with a p/n and when we check availability, it's no longer available.

i remember trying to order a part that was discontinued online at a site that said they had it, only to get an email 2 days later confirming that it wasn't available..

just sayin..

Also,. HD usually sells it's outdated stock to a company that will only sell to harley dealers.. vintage values or something like that.. this way hd gets rid of the parts, but the dealers can still get them, only problems are the company charges a lot more for the parts.

It may be worth trying another dealer, because they still seem to be listed, and not marked as discontinued.

Thanks Folkie. House of Harley has some in stock. They are good people to deal with on the phone, and have done me right in the past.

The Khrome Werks minis are definitely not the same and, in my opinion, not even close. I just ordered them as a replacement for OEM 56079.93T and I am sending them back.

The KW mini apes are 8" rise (it says so right on the sticker they put on the bars when you order them)

56079-93T is a 8.75" rise

56563-95 is a 9.75" rise, but with less pullback

I find that MC companies use the term "OEM replacement" pretty loosely--they are a "replacement" as in they are both handlebars made for motorcycles..

on the Khrome Werks website it says the mini apes are 10". I don't know what that is referring to because as far as I can tell, no part of them is 10". They are 8” H x 32.5” W x 7” maybe 10" base?

Just put these on mine as well and the only thing I had to alter was the brake line. I ordered the +8 length mentioned someplace and it worked fine. SUCH and improvement over that buck horn crappy bar that came stock with the 95'. hated that thing. I might need to add a 3" riser to move it back a bit though. I'd like to sit back further but it's still a vast improvement.

I did the stainless version of these bars on my '03, and it required a longer brake line, longer clutch cable, and rerouting the throttle cables outside of the forks.
