View Full Version : Build Or Bust Called Me
eastcoastiron 13th June 2005, 06:09 Hey ,I filled out a application for the show and had 2 return emails since, both wanting photos and some questions answered---well thats no biggie,a couple of guys on my other forum got emails as well, Now friday evening,I got a phone call from a guy named Johnathan from the show---Lets just say this one my first of more to come of interviews----Wish me luck :clap :smoke
newberrykc 13th June 2005, 07:16 good luck, keep us updated....
And remember us when you make it big...
Kevin
Jeffytune 13th June 2005, 07:20 I'll I can say it go for it.
2wheeltodd 13th June 2005, 14:38 If you get selected for the show build your bike like a Sportster!
mailmanjohn 13th June 2005, 14:42 fat tire sporty would be cool!!!!!!!! no one has built one on any show.
GRAYFEATHER 13th June 2005, 14:50 Good luck Bro
Grayfeather.
oldschool 14th June 2005, 05:28 Congrats on the interview I hope they put you on, it'd be nice to see someone who knows what they're doing on that show....
The show is a joke if you ask me! It's almost as if they only want guys who don't know what they're doing so they can ridicule them over and over, get free labor from them, and then make an extremely cheap show by not giving away the F**king bike! Meanwhile you have to hear the producer running his mouth from behind the camera. I think speed channel's blowing it! I hope you get a free bike off those idiots!!!
sleestack 14th June 2005, 23:57 This last one with the Kasim girl was ridiculous. They had no intention of giving her the bike, they knew there was no way she was going to make it.
TNsportster 16th June 2005, 01:27 Yeah, that girl was a joke. I turned off the TV in disgust!!
If you go on, DARE them to let you build a sporty or buell based chop!
(then again, if it were me, I'd probably ask for the most expensive damn engine out there...)
oldschool 16th June 2005, 21:58 I haven't seen the show in a while but if you went for polished and chromed everything, and metalflake paint with gold and silver leaf...that'd really piss off Russell Mitchell.... Hah! Wait a second, no then they'd just sabatage you the whole time for building something classic... and not "new school Industrial" Who wants a panhead with a springer front end when you could have a 300mm rear tire with a 130in motor and all the newest punched out billet crap garbage wagon?!
chupacabra 16th June 2005, 22:21 Good luck eastcoastiron!
I'm not sure I'd have the tolerance necessary to do that show even if I had the skills. Russell being hard on those people is one thing (he's a smart ass, but at least I can say I respect him as a builder and overall he seems like a pretty decent guy).
The guy constantly talking trash from behind the camera is another story. That guy is a straight up A--HOLE. No bones about it.
eastcoastiron 17th June 2005, 04:43 Russel dont do the shows anymore,They wont even tell where its being filmed unless your picked---I got my second call today,They set up a phone interview appointment, they will be calling me at 305pm tomorrow afternoon, this is crazy, wish me luck,And there is no way Im building a flat black,no chrome bike, you count on that :smoke
Myke 21st June 2005, 16:43 Any more contact with the B O B folks?
Myke
mikeabe 21st June 2005, 16:55 I don't like the tone of that show, but if you're on it, I'm all over it (if you promise to give the hosts....and the camera man...producer?? a hard time, and rub their nose in it when you get 'er done)
Grizzly 21st June 2005, 18:18 What rock have i been hiding under???? I have never seen or heard of this show? What channel, and when does it come on??
sportsterrific 21st June 2005, 18:22 Build a pink sportster 883 with a sidecar. And finish the damn thing for a change!
deadeye 21st June 2005, 19:31 Good luck!!
thatbikerguy 23rd June 2005, 02:07 What rock have i been hiding under???? I have never seen or heard of this show? What channel, and when does it come on??
Wednesday on the speed channel.
thatbikerguy 23rd June 2005, 02:11 Just finished watchin' it!! Didn't see the ORIGINAL builder...When I tuned in; it was "Jessee Rook" and "Russel" building a bike together! Jessee decided that since HE couldn't keep the bike, he wasn't gonna continue building it!!! "I don't build bikes for free" says rook. Punk!!!! :frownthre
Mike-883R 23rd June 2005, 02:37 From what I gathered from the cameraman's comments, that episode was the reason behind them not letting Russell Mitchell do the show anymore. And it wasn't even his fault! That Rooke guy needs to learn a thing or two about commitment and responsibilities, and how his actions can affect others, not just how they affect his ego. "Jesse took his ball and went home. He didn't want to play anymore." That was classic :laugh
ForensicSgt 23rd June 2005, 02:46 That was the only episode I ever watched. Couldn't stand the attitudes they presented against the "citizen builder." "nah, nah....you don't know as much as us." Sheesh!
rottenralph 23rd June 2005, 03:16 Thats true, but citizen builder was a lot like all the other schlepps they pick to build a bike. They look confused most of the time and say a lot of stupid things. I really wish they would have someone who actually owns a set of wrenches. The guy did not know how to take out a valve stem. That is as basic as it gets. Hope you get the gig but don't stand there and say stupid things. Go win a bike and show those constipated jerks that they are not super FFFFing heros. That show pisses me off most of the time. Too much bravado and too little building.
eastcoastiron 23rd June 2005, 03:49 Russel does still do some of the shows, they switch it up now,Dave from exile called me Monday,he says I will be on the show with the exile crew if Im chosen, They are doing all the new shows at a new location I believe--- Hesaid its looking good for the east coast guy, which is me :tour :smoke :clap Calling back by end of week----I gotta pay all expenses to get to cali, and stay there if Im chosen, gonna start a fund raiser.. :laugh Donations are excepted :shhhh
eastcoastiron 23rd June 2005, 03:57 Ok ,just found out Dave from Exile works for the show now so I can build anything I want---The camera man ,which is the producer also just posted that on my thread on club chopper----They have there ownplace now ,no more EXILE---- :clap :clap :clap
TNsportster 23rd June 2005, 11:32 Just finished watchin' it!! Didn't see the ORIGINAL builder...When I tuned in; it was "Jessee Rook" and "Russel" building a bike together! Jessee decided that since HE couldn't keep the bike, he wasn't gonna continue building it!!! "I don't build bikes for free" says rook. Punk!!!! :frownthre
Yep. rooke came off looking like an ass.
Mike-883R 23rd June 2005, 20:19 Not all the guys they pick are losers. I've seen two builders walk away with the bikes. One guy kicked ass and got done early (he was actually the guy that made the seat for the Rooke/Russell bike). The other guy just petered out from sheer exhaustion, and had almost completely given up in the 11th hour, but the Exile crew (Russell especially) jumped in and saved the day by doing most of the work it took to finish it. And the guy took the bike home. The way I see it, is that they make fun of the guys that come in with the attitude that it's easy, all fun and games, like they think it's all gonna fall together like Monster Garage or something. They come in bragging about how they can do it with "No problem!" those are the ones that seem to catch the most shit. The two that had a really strong work ethic, and the willingness to listen and learn, and got shit done, got the most out of the experience, and also a kick-ass bike :smoke
streetfighter1 26th June 2005, 05:20 Popa, Good luck if ya make it! Show'em what yer all about and represent us and club chopper well!
eastcoastiron 5th July 2005, 06:28 heres my bike i just redid

Bill2 21st July 2005, 04:30 What's up? You heard anything else? Oh yea nice looking scooter!
75oldschool 26th July 2005, 01:11 dam nice job!if ya go give em hell and take that mother home.
BarAndShield 31st July 2005, 07:03 For those of us living under that rock that was mentioned earlier... what's the premise of the show? A biker buildoff type deal like on one of those other channels? Sounds interesting but I'm not familiar with Build or Bust. ??
73oldsman 7th April 2006, 23:15 Saw the Rook episode. I used to like his style of bike...something different, but this dude is full of himself. Punk is right. He's not too well respected from what I've read on other bike sites, but I imagine he doesn't give a damn, as he laughs all the way to the bank. After that episode I'll bet Russell doesn't have too much to say about him. Oh yeah, if you go for the show, get some lessons on TIG, wheel lacing, and know your way around a mill before you get there. These are the things that kick most guys asses and be humble. Bow to the Chopper gods on the show and play their BS game!
KY23 8th April 2006, 00:02 Good luck getting on the show...A free bike would be great but I know I wouldn't have a shot in hell of finishing a bike in 30 days. :)
carl2124 8th April 2006, 00:52 heres my bike i just redid
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y250/eastcoastiron/done026.jpg :smoke
thats AWESOME...love the paint...and style....:smoke
EezyE 8th April 2006, 14:59 Jesse Rooke is an arrogant jackass. What has he done other than that one style of bike? He, apparently, has no respect for anyone other than himself.
Bull8252 8th April 2006, 15:12 Good luck with the show, and the fund-raising!
CBAS5 8th April 2006, 15:33 Good luck getting on the show. If it was me, then I would try to build something stone simple with expensive parts I want that works so I could keep them. The rest of the parts I wanted I might duck tape to the bike or something. Sure it might look like shit, but you finish the bike and get free parts. Considering how many people walk about with nothing from that show. Best of luck getting on the show. Let us know what happens so we know if we should watch.
engine 8th April 2006, 15:56 Well, I think the show is BS in the sense that they make sure you don't go home with a bike. The first few episoedes I saw, with that big muscular idiot, they were all helping him out a lot. LAter on toward the end, they didn't help anyone, even if he was doing well. It was like a conspiracy. And because the person doesn't get any help, it is impossible for him to get anything done. You see these other Build off shows where the shop bangs out a bike in a month, but the main ingredient is THE SHOP. you got 5 guys working on one bike. not one shmuck that never put one together getting no help whatsoever. So far I think only 2 people did it? The wrought iron guy that mad his own handle bars, and the guy that makes the seats. But another funny thing is, I saw that wrought iron guy's bike up for sale by the show's production company, along with all the other "unfinished bikes" from the show. You you really get to keep it? I doubt it...
mulisha-mike 8th April 2006, 16:19 GOOD LUCK!
Would be killer to see you use the S&S sporty motor and do a bad ass sporty chop!
Kick some ass!
KY23 8th April 2006, 18:52 I say screw the laced wheel...I've seen guys on that show take 1/2 a day to just lace their wheels. Save that half a day..put some other expensive wheels on the bike. When you win your bike go home...sell the custom wheels and replace them with some laced wheels.
tcspannerwrench 8th April 2006, 18:59 :iagree the wheels is the time killer for most of the builders
hdsporty 17th October 2006, 05:42 did this guy ever make the show???
milmat1 25th November 2006, 17:13 Wish ya LUCK.
But I don't watch any of the "Builder" Shows, They rank right up there with Wrestling to me !!!
:smoke

Thats kinda what I was thinking but wasn't there a legit guy with the same name? And didnt the ripoff guy have a hyphen like "eastcoast-iron" or something?
hawk mechanic 25th November 2006, 20:35 This thread needs to be deleted. Everything that this rip-off started needs to go. I guess many people here are like me don't like people taking advantage of our own kind.
ls1cameric 29th November 2006, 18:21 Good luck eastcoastiron!

Smart ass, I think he's a d1ck! I met him here in Austin a couple of years ago when he rode his trike in the ROT rally. I walked over and tried to start up a conversation with him about the bike because I think it's just down right badass but the guy looked at me and turned his shoulder like I wasnt even there. Maybe because I'm not covered head to toe in tats and dont have a mohawk or something. Who know's. :(
