Ok, so I lied. But with "sex" in the title, you'll read on!
Tachometer question: I come from the world of performance outboards where we run by the tach initially and then tune throttles until that magic pitch hum indicates that the engines are in synch, hence the question about tachs (that was for flathead who I'm sure hates these dials... :laugh ).
My 1200R (stage 1 + SEII and dynojet): I run about 2800-3200 when just hangin' out. I feel that adding power in any gear from that point gives the most powerful and quickest response. Any lower, she lugs; any higher, except when powering on, seems to be a strain, both from the sound and (modest) vibration standpoint. Am I being overly sensitive? Shift points are often around 4000 (again, unless powering through gears) or even less.
What are your comfort ranges for those who use a tach instead of speedo?
